2 Safety Notes

The AM/FM tuner must only be installed by author-
ized personnel and is only suited for being mounted
in the amplifier PA-1200.
This appliance corresponds to the EC Directives for
electromagnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The unit is only suitable for indoor use.
Avoid excessively warm locations for the unit or
high humidity (permissible operating temperature
range 0-40°C).
Do not set the amplifier PA-1200 with the installed
AM/FM tuner into operation and immediately take
the mains plug out of the mains socket if:
1. damage at the unit or mains cable can be seen,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit must in any case be repaired by authorized
skilled personnel.
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is operated in the wrong way or if it is
not installed or repaired by authorized skilled per-
sonnel, there is no liability for possible damage.
Use a dry dust cloth for cleaning only, by no means
chemicals or water.
3 Installation into the Amplifier PA-1200
1) Take the mains plug of the amplifier out of the
mains socket before installing the AM/FM tuner.
2) Remove the cover of the amplifier.
3) Screw off the blank panel of the insertion slot at the
amplifier. Insert the AM/FM tuner and fasten it.

4) Unscrew the blank panel at the right side of the
fuses (8) at the back of the amplifier and remove it.
Insert the supplied PCB with the antenna screw
connections (9) and fasten it.
5) Insert the 2-pole wire of the AN08 connection of the
M.O.H. terminals (10) to the pin socket CN08 at the
PCB of the AM/FM tuner (see fig. 3).
6) Insert the 3-pole wire of the AN07 connection at the
main PCB of the amplifier to the pin socket CN07 at
the PCB of the AM/FM tuner.
7) Insert the 4-pole wire of the inserted PCB (9) to the
pin socket CN10 at the PCB of the AM/FM tuner.
8) Re-install the cover of the amplifier.
9) Connect the reception antennas to the antenna
screw terminals (9).

4 Operation

4.1 Calling up of Stored Stations
If no stations have been stored, please read the next
chapter 4.2 "Adjusting and Storing of a Station" first.
1) Press the ON button (5) to switch on the tuner. The
frequency of the station last heard will then appear
in the display (2).
2) Press the FM/AM button (3) to choose the fre-
quency range in which the station is stored.
3) With the numeric buttons (6) select the number by
which the station has been stored.
4) The stored station frequency is shown in the dis-
play (2). The TUNE LED (1) lights if a station is
received.
5) Adjust the desired volume with the volume control (7).
6) Switch off the tuner by pressing the ON button (5)
again.
4.2 Adjusting and Storing of a Station
1) The tuner can be adjusted to the three frequency
ranges FM1, FM2, and AM: FM1 and FM2 for FM
reception and AM for AM reception. Use the
FM/AM button (3) to change the frequency ranges.
The selected frequency range is shown in the dis-
play (2). Up to 6 stations can be permanently stored
in each of the three frequency ranges. Thus, a total
of 18 stations can be stored.
2) The station frequency can be adjusted manually
with the
quency can either be increased (via pressing the
button) or decreased (via pressing the
ton) step by step. The channel step for the FM
range is 50 kHz, for the AM range 9 kHz.
If these buttons are pressed for more than 2
seconds, the auto tuning is automatically activated:
button: auto tuning forward,
button: auto tuning backward.
The auto tuning always moves to the next station.
