FUN Piccolo
Welcome to Indoor R/C Helicopter
flying
Thank you...
for purchasing the revolutionary FUN Piccolo. The Piccolo is a
new state-of-the-art electric R/C model helicopter that at last
makes indoor flying' a practical reality. Latest technology
design and production processes plus extensive R&D ensure
incredible flight performance/flying time even when using a
standard 4 channel R/C transmitter. As a bonus, the extensive
use of carbon fibre materials has imparted a quite amazing
strength/weight ratio to this model, helping to make it a
practical outdoor, calm weather flying machine.
The contents of this kit have been carefully packed and
checked at the factory. However, please inspect the kit
carefully to ensure that all parts are present and undamaged.
Please inform us immediately if you find anything missing or
damaged.
Care and safety...
Always take great care when constructing any R/C model; the
Piccolo is no exception. From the box to the flying field, the
Piccolo will provide you with a great deal of fun and
satisfaction. However, please be aware that this helicopter is
NOT A TOY. It must be assembled with care and responsibility.
It should be operated only in a safe manner and in safe areas.
Your Piccolo should never be flown irresponsibly or without
due regard for other people or property.
Flying R/C model helicopters is not difficult but requires
patience and practice. If you are a newcomer to R/C model
helicopters, you should seek advice from your local model
club or store/shop before flying your Piccolo. Ikarus and
Ikarus' distributors will not be held liable for any loss or
damage arising from misuse or improper operation of this
model.
Helicopters are subject to certain physical laws and an
understanding of the principles of flight is important. A clear
understanding of the principles of flight can make the all-
important difference between executing a 'good' landing as
opposed to a 'bad' landing. Small and sensitive control inputs
are needed when flying helicopters. Care and patience is the
key to success. The Piccolo is the result of extensive design
evolution and testing and this is reflected in the high quality
components and excellent performance of this model. This, by
itself, does not guarantee success. The quality and 'flyability'
of the constructed model is down to you. To ensure success,
please follow the instructions in this manual carefully and
study R/C model helicopter flight technique diligently.
Construct the helicopter as carefully as
possible. When in doubt, 'draw out' the problem on paper.
Consider and reconsider the problem before proceeding.
Don't hesitate to seek help from a more experienced
helicopter modeler.

WARNING!:
Cyanoacrylate (CA) glue bonds skin instantly. In case of eye
contact, avoid blinking, rinse with water and seek medical
attention immediately. Keep CA glue out of the reach of
children. Avoid breathing vapors. Use only in well ventilated
areas.
General:
This helicopter is unique because of it's miniature
components. The components are weight-optimized and
small. Therefore, they require special care when being
handled. Examine parts for any molding flash and other
molding imperfections before each step. Remove burrs or
flash with a sharp knife or sandpaper.
During assembly, use CA glue sparingly. Using too much glue
does not build a stronger machine, just a heavier one. Also,
over-use of glue will complicate disassembly in the future. Be
careful when applying CA to parts because CA can run and
possibly wick into parts you do not want to glue. Use CA
conservatively!
Make sure that all surfaces to be joined with CA glue are clean
and free of dirt, grease or oil. Also, clean all parts before gluing
to free them of any left-over mold release agent. Different CA
glues have different cure times. Full strength is achieved after
12 hours. CA glue requires humidity (moisture) to cure, so it
sometimes helps speed the set time to breathe on the glue.
Depending on the moisture conditions, CA can harden in
