Operating instruction for electric fence controller
"turbostar AB"
in connection with SECURA ANIMAL safety and installation hints (www.horizont.com)
Functional principle:
The fence terminal marked
supplies impulses with the indicated technical data whereby
the impulse energy in position „stronger" is considerably above the level of battery fencers
known so far - thanks to the horizont master dialogue circuitry economizing on current
consumption.
When connecting a fence to the terminal marked
work as an additional energy storage being charged by the impulses. More or less energy
will be stored depending upon the fence line length (see technical data ). On animal contact
the fence energy will be discharged immediately with a corresponding shock effect. The
following impulses will show the indicated values.
Attention: Only use top quality gate handles for the gate!
Installation and connection
Install the unit in a rather moisty place of the fence on the ground. Drive the enclosed earth
stake as much as possible into the ground. We recommend to use an additional earth rod
of about 1m and to connect this one with the first earth stake ensuring a good conductivity.
A good grounding (fig.1) is very important for the trouble free operation and the ideal
performance of the fencer, see also SECURA.
Earth and line cables to be connected according to the illustration. Here you can choose
between the standard connection with the dialigne system (energy recuperation) and the
„hot shock" connection (fig.2). On light, dry vegetation the current consumption is lower when
using the standard terminal. In turn, the connecton to the „hot shock" terminal leads to the
maximum current drain already on light load. With a corresponding power supply the various
requirements can be met.
The energizer housing can take the following batteries:
12V/45Ah battery, two 9V dry batteries (big or small housing, T or TD) or one 9V dry battery
and all small batteries. Suitable connections cables are included.
Operation and control
Press switch into desired position. If you are going to use only one 9V dry battery (T or TD)
use the standard position otherwise, depending upon the fence load, the battery could be
overloaded. Press switch 1-0-test in position >1<. After a few seconds you will hear a regular
tic tac and the operating indicator light flashes in the rhythm of the impulses. The energizer
is supplying voltage onto the fence.
If the operating indicator light is not flashing or only irregularly the reasons might be as
follows:
1.) discharged/empty battery
2.) strong weedload on the fence, flash-over on the insulator in particular on steel posts
3.) maximum fence line length exceeded
4.) fault on the energizer
6
(„hot shock" terminal), the fence will
argutektor and battery test: In position >test< you can check at the same time the status
of discharge of the battery and the fence line condition. According to the symbols the
energizer detects automatically the used type of power supply and shows the state of
discharge analogously correct. The red argutektor indicator light flashes with the impulses
when there is vegetation on the fence with possibly still full voltage but increased current
consumption, in order to maintain the high voltage. The horistar master dialogue circuitry
cares for a low current consumption on a well insulated fence.
Requirements
The energizer corresponds to the
safety standards.
Change of battery
Open the unit according to
fig.3 and change battery
or accumulator.
Corresponding connection
leads are enclosed.
Solar operation
On request solar panel is available that can
be mounted on top of the energizer and be
directed with this one towards the south
(fig.4.)
2 types of operation are possible:
1.) Additional supply to the dry battery The
solar connection leads will be inserted
through the vent holes in the lower part of the
housing and are to be connected in parallel
to the + and - poles.
If there is sufficient incidence of light even on
a rather cloudy sky the panel cares for the
power supply, i.e. the battery will not be
discharged. During the hours of darkness or
if there is not sufficient incidence of light the
battery ensures the power supply. In practice,
with solar operation the lifetime of a battery
will more than double.
2.) On 12V operation the panel will be
connected directly to the battery terminals.
The panel charges the 12V battery and the
battery supplies the energizer.
