Connecting the solenoid valve
Push the cable plug of the DENNERLE CO
Controller. The pH-Controller regulates the operation of the solenoid valve automatically, accor-
ding to the pre-set pH value.
Please note and remember: For the combination with a solenoid valve "CO
a pH-Controller, only proper CO
PROFI 2000, PROFI 500 and PROFI 250. Throttle valves operate with much higher pressures
and therefore should not be combined with a solenoid valve or a pH-Controller!
1.3
Installing the sensor holder in the aquarium
Attach the sensor holder to the aquarium, at a suitable place with good water circulation. The
top section of the sensor holder should be at least 2 cm above the water level. Select a rather
dark place in order to avoid the sensor to be covered with algae. Sensor tips covered with algae
may have a negative effect on the measuring accuracy.
1.4
Connecting the pH sensor
Connect the plug of the pH sensor cable to the outlet of the pH-Controller.
Carefully pull the protective cap from the pH sensor. For removing the KCL solution from the tip
of the sensor, briefly rinse the tip in a vessel with aquarium water. Leave the sensor in that ves-
sel until you start to calibrate (see 2.3).
1.5
Switch-on
Connect the plug of the pH-Controller supply cable to the 230 volt mains outlet. The unit is now
operative.
Before the pH-Controller can be used for regulating the pH value in the aquarium, the sensor
has to be calibrated (important!). For this reason the pH-Controller shows "E" EICHEN
(Calibrate) on the display. The yellow LEDs above the push buttons EICHEN pH 7 (Calibrate pH
7) and EICHEN pH 4 (Calibrate pH 4) are lit
2 Calibrating the pH sensor
2.1
Purpose of calibration
Every measuring instrument is only as accurate as its sensor. Therefore the pH sensor is a com-
ponent of decisive importance of your pH-Controller.
As every pH sensor can misadjust itself in the course of time, a regular calibration of the sensor is
essential for the proper function of the pH-Controller and the quality of the measuring results.
2.2
Preparing the calibration
For attaining optimum calibration values, the calibration solution should have a temperature of
20 - 25 °C. To prepare the calibration process, pour some calibration solution pH 7 out of its
bottle into a separate, clean vessel. The sensor should be immersed at least 2 cm. Keep a third
vessel with destilled water ready.
2.3
Calibration process
The COMFORT calibration permits a quick, safe and easy calibration of the pH sensor. Please
proceed as follows:
Briefly rinse the pH sensor in distilled water.
Place the pH sensor into the pH 7 calibration solution
Wait approx. for one minute for the sensor to measure the calibration solution. This pro-
cess is finished when the measured value remains stable. (Note: When calibration pH 7
for the first time no value but "E" will be shown (refer to 1.5). In order to display a value
a successful calibration is necessary).
Push the "EICHEN pH 7" (Calibrate pH 7) button and hold it down for about 3
