On account of the extremely compact design
of the MLK 1.2 sockets, it has been difficult so
far, under garage conditions, to adapt the con-
tacts of housings fitted with MLK 1.2 sockets
for measuring purposes.
To check the passage of electricity, access pos-
sibilities for electrical tests are provided on the
contacting side (insertion face) of the housing.
Since neither the contacting surface may be
touched nor penetration in the contacting ran-
ge may take place, during an electrical test of
the MLK 1.2 socket, the testing adapter ensures
that no damage can occur in the contacting
range.
The testing adapter has been designed for
measuring through connection. The intrinsic
resistance inc. conductor is max. 100mΩ. For
voltages up to 20 V, current up to max. 3A.
The testing adapter MLK 1.2 is the only per-
missible and released mobile testing device
for socket housings with MLK 1.2 sockets.
Instructions for testing adapter Kostal MLK 1,2
1. Press the clamp blade in the extraction
channel against the clamp resistor.
2. The testing pin rebounds when contact is
made with the contact box.
3. Movement only in a straight line to the lon-
gitudinal axis! Do not twist, turn, bend!
4. Press the test adapter into the housing as
far as it will go.
5. Use in track and pattern 2.54 possible.

MLK 1.2 contacts were installed in mass-pro-
duced vehicles from model year 98/99. Appli-
cations can be found in the vehicles of all well-
known German vehicle manufacturers, such as
Mercedes-Benz, BMW etc.
