Cold fingers will provide very weak pulse signals due to low pulse level
and low perfusion.
This may cause the following screens to appear.
In such cases, reinsert the finger into the instrument, rub or warm the finger, or
use another finger so that at least two segments of the pulse level meter blink.
Possible causes of measurement errors
Possible causes of measurement errors include the following:
The measurement practice is not correct:
The finger is not inserted into the finger holder properly.
•
Motion of the patient or instrument is excessive.
•
Excessive pressure or a grasping force is applied to the instrument.
•
Environmental conditions are not correct:
Surrounding light (light from incandescent, fluorescent or infrared
•
lamps, or direct sunlight) is too bright.
The instrument suffers electromagnetic interference from neighboring
•
electronic equipment (medical devices or electrical apparatus).
A wireless device such as an FM transmitter is activated in the imme-
•
diate vicinity of the instrument.
Blood circulation to the fingertip is insufficient due to pressure on the
•
hand or finger or peripheral circulatory failure, or the fingertip suffers
blood stasis.
A blood pressure cuff is put around the arm on the same side as the
•
finger in question.
The patient is problematic:
The blood of the patient contains a lot of abnormal hemoglobin such
•
as carbon monoxide hemoglobin (HbCO), methemoglobin or sulfhe-
moglobin.
The blood of the patient contains coloring matters such as indocyanine
•
green or methylene blue.
The patient suffers severe anemia.
•
The nail of the finger in question has nail polish or other treatment.
•
Ending the measurment
Open the finger holder and pull the finger out of it.
The readouts on the LCD are held for 1 minute; then the power of the
•
instrument turns off automatically.
To clear the readouts being held;
Press the Display OFF button located above the finger insertion part
•
and hold it in for at least 1 second. The readouts are cleared and the
power turns off.
