PRECAUTIONS

Please read these precautions before operating this unit.
Power Cord Protection
In order to avoid any malfunctions to the unit and provide
protection against electrical shock, fi re or human injury,
please observe the following:
Hold the plug fi rmly when connecting or disconnec-
ting the AC power cord to this unit (do not hold the
cable).
Do not connect or disconnect the AC power cord
when your hands are wet.
Keep the AC power cord away from appliances that
produce heat.
Never put any heavy objects on the AC power cord.
Do not attempt to repair or reconstruct the AC power
cord. The plug of the mains lead should be cleaned
regularly.
If the unit has been dropped or damaged, turn off
the power and disconnect the AC power cord. If you
observe smoke emanating from the device or the
device smells of burning or gives off loud noises, turn
off the power immediately and disconnect the AC
power cord.

Positioning the Player
The internal components may be seriously damaged if
the unit is placed in areas of:
direct sunlight, sources of heat or closed automobi-
les; locations subjected to high temperatures (over
35°C) or humidity (over 90%); locations where there
are excessive amounts of dust,
strong magnetic or static electricity,
strong vibrations or where the device can only be
positioned on a tilting surface.
Periods of Non-Use
Turn off the power when the unit is not being used.
Unplug the unit when it is idle for a long period of
time. Do not insert your fi ngers or other objects into
the device.
Touching the internal parts of this unit is dangerous
and may cause serious damage to the unit and even
human injury.
Do not try to disassemble this unit.
Do not put any other object on the disc tray.
Operating in the Vicinity of Water and Magnetic Fields
Keep the unit away from fl ower vases, water pipes
and the like. If liquids are spilled into the unit, serious
damage may occur.
Do not set up the device near strong magnetic fi elds
(e.g. near loudspeakers).
Stacking
Place the unit on a level base and do not place any
heavy objects on the player.
Do not place the unit on amplifi ers or other equip-
ment which may become hot.
Condensation
Moisture may form on the lens under the following
conditions:
In rooms with very high humidity or near devices
which give off steam
Immediately after the player has been switched on
If liquids condense inside the device trouble-free
operation can no longer be guaranteed. In this case,
turn on the power for about 1 hour before using the
device to allow the moisture to evaporate.
Interference to TV Broadcasts
Under certain circumstances there may be inter-
ference on the television picture if the player is
switched on during television reception. This is not a
malfunction of the TV. Turn off the player if you would
like to watch a television broadcast.
