Preparation for use

Perform the following activities prior to use:
1. Check that the Dräger X-plore 8000 helmet with visor is ready for
use (see section 4.2.1).
2. Adjust the support ring to the user's head size (see section 3.1.1).
3. Adjust the face cuff to the head size (see section 3.1.2).
4. If necessary, attach the earmuffs (see section 3.1.3).
5. Remove transport foil from visor.
6. If necessary, attach protective cover (see section 4.2.5).
Dräger X-plore 8000 Helmet with Visor
7. Connect powered air purifying respirator or air line breathing
apparatus:
attach the corrugated hose to the device and helmet and check it
is secure.
8. Switch on the device and check whether air is coming out at the
front of the ventilation duct.
9. Don the Dräger X-plore 8000 helmet with visor (see section 3.1.4
on page 18).
3.1.1 Adjusting the support ring

1. A scale has been provided for the support ring. Slide the ends of
the support ring into each other until the support ring is the right
size for the user's head circumference.

To increase the size of the support ring, press lightly on the
end into which the support ring is threaded.

2. Adjust the support ring in such a way that it rests on the head
above the ears. For this purpose, several slots have been provided
for the 4 tabs on the support ring. Attach the tabs to the knobs on
the head harness.
3.1.2 Adjusting the face cuff

Adjust the Velcro tabs so that the face cuff rests tightly against the

user's face.
