INSTALLATION MANUAL
CONNECTIONS
Please refer to the drawing for the exact connection of the Scratch processor. Be aware
that the scratch processor is not a stand-alone unit and that it can only be used together
with the SYNQ CDX-1 CD-player. Strictly follow the instructions below to be sure that the
scratch processor works properly:
• Switch all the units of your DJ setup off. (turntables, mixers, CD-players, ...)
• Locate a suitable place for the Scratch Processor somewhere near the main unit of the
CDX-1 CD-player.
• Choose the turntable you will be using for your scratching performance. Unplug the
signal cable (cinch/cinch) and the ground cable from this turntable on the mixer side.
• Connect this cable directly to the phono input(1) of the Scratch Processor. Also
connect the ground cable to the phono ground(2) input.
Important: this phono input only accepts phono level signals. If your turntable has a phono/line switch,
be sure to switch it to phono. With line level signals the scratch processor will not work properly and can
even be damaged.
• Connect the phono outputs(6) from the Scratch Processor to the input where you
unplugged the original phono cable. Don't forget to connect the ground cable. Now the
Scratch Processor is connected "between" your turntable and your mixer.
• Use the two supplied 3.5mm stereo jack/jack cables to connect the clock outputs
(3+4) on the Scratch Processor with the special inputs on the main unit of the CDX-1
CD-player:
o Clock out1: connect this output to the left Scratch Processor input on the
back of the main unit.
o Clock out2: connect this output to the right Scratch Processor input on the
back of the main unit.
• Connect the Power supply to the power supply input(5) and put it to a mains wall
outlet.
• Switch all the units of your DJ setup back on.

INSTALLATION MANUAL
TESTING THE CONNECTIONS
• Put a CD in the left side of the CDX-1 CD-player and push play. (track starts playing)
• Push the scratch button. The button will light and playback stops.
• Put the specially coded Scratch record on the turntable where you connected the
Scratch Processor and start playback.
Attention: the Special Scratch record has two sides: one is 33RPM, the other is 45RPM. Select the
corresponding speed on your turntable.
• If everything is OK, playback of the CD will start again.
Very important: if the CD plays in reverse, you need to switch the left and right
channels on the phono input(1) of the Scratch Processor: put the red cinch connector
to the white (left) phono input(1) and do the same with the other channel.
• Use the pitch slider on the turntable or scratch the special vinyl scratch record: the
music on the CD will follow your manipulations with the scratch record.
Repeat this procedure with a CD in the right player of the CDX-1 CD-player.
For more information about the scratch function, please refer to the user manual of the
SYNQ CDX-1 CD-player.
IMPORTANT:
The Scratch Processor only works with the Special vinyl scratch record.
A replacement record is available from your SYNQ Dealer.
