Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an einen IBM-kompatiblen PC mit USB-Schnittstelle vorgese-
hen und dient dort zur Audio-Ausgabe (Stereo oder 5.1-Analog-Audio).

Anschlüsse und Bedienelemente
Bedientasten
Die Taste "MUTE" schaltet die Audioausgänge stumm (LED "PWR" blinkt), die Taste "SUR"
bietet einen speziellen Surround-Modus bei normalen Audiosignalen und die Taste "MIC"
schaltet den Eingangspegel des Eingangs (l) zwischen "LINE" und "MIC" um.
USB-Anschluss
Verbinden Sie ihn mit einem freien USB-Port Ihres PCs.
Eingang
An diesem Eingang kann ein Gerät mit Line-Signal (CD-Player, Cassettendeck, Tuner) oder
ein PC-Mikrofon angeschlossen werden.
Über die Taste "MIC" kann zwischen Line- und Mic-Pegel umgeschaltet werden.
Das an dem Eingang anliegende Audiosignal wird dann direkt an die Ausgänge weiterge-
leitet, eine Aufnahme des Signals am PC ist deshalb nicht möglich! Das Audiosignal wird
übrigens mit dem PC-Audiosignal zusammengemischt & ausgegeben (z.B.
Hintergrundmusik vom PC und Sprache über das Mikrofon!).
5.1-Ausgänge
Die drei 3.5mm-Stereoklinkenbuchsen liefern beim Abspielen von entsprechenden DVDs
(über die mitgelieferte DVD-Playersoftware) das analoge 5.1-Signal. Schließen Sie die
Ausgänge z.B. an Ihrem 5.1-Lautsprechersystem an oder an einem Verstärker mit analo-
gem 5.1-Eingang.
Normale Audiowiedergabe ist ebenfalls möglich, an den Rear- und Center/Subwoofer-
Anschlüssen ("REAR" und "C/LFE") liegt dann aber kein Audiosignal an.
Nutzen Sie dazu den speziellen Surround-Modus (Taste "SUR" drücken, LED "SUR" leuch-
tet auf) ; hier werden die normalen Audio-Signale auch über die anderen Ausgänge
("Rear", "C/LFE") wiedergegeben.
LEDs
Die LED "PWR" leuchtet, wenn das Gerät über den USB-Port mit Strom versorgt wird (bzw.
blinkt, wenn über die Taste "MUTE" die Stummschaltung aktiviert ist). die LED "SUR"
leuchtet, wenn der Surround-Modus aktiviert ist und die LED "MIC" leuchtet, wenn der
Eingangspegel auf "MIC" (Mikrofon) umgeschaltet ist.
Anschluss an den USB-Port
Schalten Sie Ihren PC ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem vollständig geladen ist.
Verbinden Sie die USB-Audio-Box anschließend über das mitgelieferte USB-Kabel mit einem
USB-Port Ihres PCs.
Treiber-Installation
Zum einwandfreien Betrieb über den USB-Port ist mindestens Windows 98 nötig. Es gibt zwar
auch eine Windows 95-Version, auf deren CD steht "...mit USB-Unterstützung", diese ist aber
Version 11/01 nicht in der Lage, den Betrieb der USB-Audio-Box sicherzustellen.

Windows erkennt das Gerät automatisch. Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows. Die
nötigen Treiber-Dateien sind in Windows enthalten.
Auf der mitgelieferten CD sind keine Treiber zu finden, sondern nur zusätzliche Software, wie
z.B. die DVD-Player-Software.
Bei Windows ME belassen Sie bei der Hardware-Erkennung die Voreinstellung "Automatisch
nach dem besten Treiber suchen (empfohlen)" und klicken auf "Weiter".
Windows installiert dann die eigenen Treiber.
Bitte beachten Sie: Es kann bis zu 5 Minuten dauern, bis Windows alle
nötigen Treiberdateien installiert hat. Das Fenster des Hardware-
Assistenten ist dabei bereits geschlossen - nichts deutet auf den
Kopiervorgang hin, nur die Festplatte läuft noch ein paar Mal.
Wird der Kopiervorgang durch einen Neustart unterbrochen, kann es zu
Problemen kommen.
Warten Sie einfach die ca. 5 Minuten ab, bis die Festplatte nicht mehr
läuft.
Während dieser Zeit kann es evtl. auch vorkommen, dass im
Gerätemanager in der Systemsteuerung zusätzlich zum Audiogerät ein
gelbes Ausrufezeichen erscheint. Entfernen Sie es nicht, warten Sie ein-
fach die paar Minuten ab.
Danach ist ein Neustart von Windows erforderlich!
Zum Betrieb der USB-Audio-Box ist keine zusätzliche Soundkarte erforderlich.
Installation der Zusatzsoftware der mitgelieferten CD
Sollte das Installationsmenü nach dem Einlegen der CD in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk nicht auto-
matisch starten, so starten Sie das Programm "Auto.exe" auf der CD.
Die Software "WinDVD" dient zum Abspielen von DVDs, "Gammut" ist eine MP3-Player-
Software und der "Speaker-Test" kann zur Kontrolle der korrekten Aufstellung der
Lautsprecher dienen.
Möglicherweise ist die Vorgehensweise bei neueren Versionen der Software anders, evtl. liegt
dort auch eine andere Software bei.
Tipps und Hinweise
• Falls die USB-Audio-Box an einem USB-Hub nicht funktioniert, so schließen Sie sie ver-
suchsweise direkt an einem USB-Port Ihres PCs an.
• Warten Sie nach dem Abschluss der Hardware-Erkennung ca. 5 Minuten, da Windows in die-
ser Zeit weitere Systembestandteile installiert.
Führen Sie danach einen Neustart durch.
• Ist im PC bereits eine Soundkarte vorhanden, so ist in den Audio-Eigenschaften das
Wiedergabegerät (Soundkarte oder USB-Audio-Box) zu wählen!
Klicken Sie dazu auf das Lautsprechersymbol in der Menüleiste und wählen Sie
"Audioeigenschaften einstellen". Wählen Sie dann bei "Wiedergabe" das bevorzugte Gerät.
• Das am Eingang "LINE/MIC" der USB-Audio-Box anliegende Audiosignal kann nicht an den
PC übertragen werden. Es wird nur auf den Ausgang hinzugemischt (z.B. für Karaoke,
Ansagen o.ä.).

Proper Use
The product is designed to be connected to an IBM compatible PC with USB interface and the-
re outputs audio signals (stereo or 5.1- analogue audio).

Connections and Controls
Control keys
The "MUTE" key turns the audio outputs mute (LED "PWR" flashes), the "SUR" button
offers a special surround sound mode for normal audio signals and the "MIC" key switches
the input level of the input (l) between "LINE" and "MIC".
USB connection
Connect it to an empty USB port of your PC.
Input
You can connect an appliance with Line signal to this input (CD player, cassette player,
tuner) or a PC microphone.
Use the "MIC" key to switch between Line and MIC level.
The audio signal applying at the input is then directly forwarded to the outputs; thus the
signal cannot be recorded on the PC! By the way, the audio signal is mixed & output with
the PC audio signal (e.g. background music from the PC and spoken sounds via the micro-
phone!)
5.1 Outputs
The three 3.5mm stereo jack sockets deliver the analogue 5.1 signal when playing the cor-
responding DVDs (via the supplied DVD player software). Connect the outputs e.g., to your
5.1 speaker system or to an amplifier with analogue 5.1 input.
Normal audio replay will then also be possible. However, the rear, centre and subwoofer
terminals ("REAR" und C/LFE") will not be supplied with an audio signal.
Use the special surround mode for this purpose (press the "SUR" button, the "SUR" LED
lights up); here the normal audio signals are also available via the other outputs (" Rear",
"C/ LFE").
LED
The "PWR" LED is lit when the device is powered via the USB port (or flashes when the
mute function is activated via the "MUTE" button). The "SUR" LED is lit when the surround
sound is active and the "MIC" LED is on when the input level is set to "MIC" (microphone).
Connection to the USB port
Turn your PC on and wait until it has booted completely. Use the supplied USB cable to con-
nect the USB audio box with a USB port of your PC.
Installing the Drivers
The operation via the USB port requires at least Windows 98. Although a Windows 95 version
is available with USB support, the USB audio box will not work properly under this operating
system.

Windows detects the device automatically. Follow the instruction given by Windows. The
necessary driver files are included in Windows.
The supplied CD-ROM only contains software (such as the DVD player software).
If you are working under Windows ME, leave the default setting of the hardware detection to
"Find the best driver for the device (recommended)" and click "Next". Windows now installs
its own drivers.
Please note: Windows may need up to five minutes to install all necessa-
ry driver files. The window of the Add New Hardware Wizard is closed
during the installation process, nothing else indicates that a copying pro-
cess is running. Only the hard disk runs several times.
If you interrupt the copying process by restarting your computer, pro-
blems may occur.
Wait for 5 minutes and the hard disk does not run anymore.
During this time the Device Manager in the Control Panel displays a yellow
exclamation mark next to the audio device. Do not remove it. Simply wait
a few minutes.
Afterwards you must restart Windows!
No additional sound card is necessary to operate the USB audio box.
Installing the Software on the CD-ROM
If the installation menu does not start automatically after you have inserted the CD-ROM in the
CD-ROM drive, you must activate the "Auto. exe" on the CD-ROM.
The "WinDVD" software serves for replaying DVDs, "Gammut" is a software for MP3 players
and the "Speaker- Test" can be used to check the correct setup of the speakers.
The procedure may differ slightly if newer versions of the software are used, or different soft-
ware is supplied.
Tips and Hints
• If the USB audio box does not work on a USB hub, try to connect it directly to the USB port of
your PC.
• After the hardware has been detected, wait for approximately five minutes because Windows
installs additional system components during this time.
Restart your computer afterwards.
• If there is already a soundcard in the PC, the replaying device must be selected in the audio
options (soundcard or USB audio box)!
For this purpose, right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar and select "Adjust audio pro-
perties". Under "Playback" select the preferred device.
• The audio signal applying at the "LINE/ MIC" input of the USB audio box cannot be transfer-
red to the PC. It is only mixed onto the output (e.g. for karaoke, speeches etc).
