PC-Maus mit USB- & PS/2-Anschluss

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an einen IBM-kompatiblen PC mit PS/2- oder USB-
Schnittstelle vorgesehen und dient dort z.B. zur Bedienung des Betriebssystems.

Anschluss
a) Anschluss an USB-Port
Schieben Sie den USB-Stecker der Maus in einen USB-Port Ihres PCs. Besitzen
Sie z.B. einen USB-Hub, können Sie die Maus auch dort anstecken. Der PC
braucht dabei nicht ausgeschaltet werden (gilt nur speziell bei USB-Geräten!).
b) Anschluss an PS/2-Mausport
Bevor Sie die Maus mit dem USB-PS/2-Adapter an den PC anschließen,
schalten Sie Ihren PC aus und trennen Sie ihn von der Netzspannung,
ziehen Sie den Netzstecker!
Gleiches gilt, wenn Sie die Maus abstecken wollen.
Wird die Maus während dem Betrieb des PCs an- oder abgesteckt, so
kann sowohl die Maus als auch das Motherboard des PCs beschädigt
werden.
Der mitgelieferte USB-PS/2-Adapter darf nur in Verbindung mit der
mitgelieferten Maus verwendet werden! Beim Anschluss anderer
Geräte an den Adapter wird sowohl der Adapter als auch das daran
angeschlossene Gerät beschädigt!
Verbinden Sie den USB-Stecker der Maus über den mitgelieferten USB-
PS/2-Adapter mit dem PS/2-Mausport Ihres PCs.
Verbinden Sie den PC wieder mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie ihn ein.
Treiber-Installation
Zum einwandfreien Betrieb über den USB-Port ist mindestens Windows 98 nötig. Es
gibt zwar auch eine Windows 95-Version, auf deren CD steht "...mit USB-
Unterstützung", diese ist aber nicht in der Lage, den Betrieb der Maus über USB
sicherzustellen. Verwenden Sie für ältere Windows-Versionen oder DOS den PS/2-
Anschluss.
a) Bei Anschluss an USB-Port
Windows erkennt das Gerät automatisch. Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von
Windows. Die nötigen Treiber-Dateien sind in Windows enthalten.
b) Bei Anschluss an PS/2-Mausport
Zum Betrieb unter Windows 9x/ME sind keine Treiber nötig, die Maus wird auto-
matisch erkannt. Die nötigen Treiber-Dateien sind in Windows enthalten.
Reinigung
Gelegentlich sollten Sie sowohl die Mauskugel als auch die Antriebsrollen reinigen.
Dadurch, dass die Mauskugel z.B. auf einem Mauspad rollt und dort Staub oder
anderen Schmutz aufnimmt, kann im Laufe der Zeit die Mausbewegung immer
ungenauer werden.
Beenden Sie alle Anwendungen & Windows und schalten Sie Ihren
Computer aus, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker!

Entriegeln Sie nun vorsichtig den Verschluss der Mauskugel (drehen Sie ihn mit zwei

Fingern entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn), nehmen Sie den Verschluss und die
Mauskugel heraus.
Mit einem leicht mit lauwarmen Wasser angefeuchteten Wattestäbchen können Sie
die beiden Antriebsrollen und das schmale Gegendruck-Rädchen reinigen.
Die Mauskugel säubern Sie am besten mit einem mit lauwarmen Wasser ange-
feuchteten fusselfreien Reinigungstuch, wischen Sie auch gleich Ihr Mauspad ab.
Lassen Sie erst alle Teile gründlich trocknen, bevor Sie die Mauskugel
und den Verschluss einsetzen und die Maus wieder in Betrieb nehmen!
Tipps und Hinweise
a) Bei Anschluss an USB-Port
• Wenn Ihr Computer mehrere USB-Schnittstellen hat, so ist es unerheblich, in
welchen die Maus eingesteckt wird.
Wird die Maus abgesteckt (z.B. wenn der PC transportiert wird), so sollten Sie sie
später wieder an den gleichen USB-Port anstecken, da ansonsten evtl. die
Hardwareerkennung die Maus neu erkennt und die Treiberinstallation nochmals
nötig ist.
• Falls die Maus an einem USB-Hub nicht funktioniert, stecken Sie sie versuchs-
weise direkt an einen USB-Port Ihres PCs an.
• Falls die USB-Maus als Ersatz für eine herkömmliche RS232- oder PS/2-Maus
dienen soll, so beachten Sie bitte, dass im abgesicherten Modus von Windows
98/ME keine USB-Unterstützung besteht.
Das bedeutet, dass kein Mauszeiger erscheint und die Bedienung des
Betriebssystems ausschliesslich per Tastatur erfolgen muss!
Auch unter DOS arbeitet eine USB-Maus nicht.
b) Bei Anschluss an PS/2-Port (über mitgelieferten Adapter)
• Der mitgelieferte USB-PS/2-Adapter darf nur in Verbindung mit der mitgeliefer-
ten Maus verwendet werden, nicht für andere USB-Geräte!
• Vor dem An- oder Abstecken von PS/2-Geräten an den PC ist der PC auszu-
schalten und von der Netzspannung zu trennen.
• Wenn Ihr PC mehrere PS/2-Schnittstellen hat, so beachten Sie das Handbuch zu
Ihrem PC bzw. zu dem Motherboard, welche der PS/2-Schnittstellen für eine
Maus geeignet ist.
• Hatten Sie bisher nur eine RS232-Maus an Ihrem PC, so muss bei älteren PCs
evtl. vor der Inbetriebnahme im BIOS/Setup des PCs die PS/2-Schnittstelle ein-
geschaltet/aktiviert werden.
• Bei Notebooks ist der Parallelbetrieb eines bereits im Notebook vorhandenen
Steuergeräts (z.B. Touchpad) und einer PS/2-Maus evtl. nicht möglich (bei USB
sollte es keinerlei Probleme der gleichzeitigen Nutzung geben!).
Schalten Sie dann versuchsweise das interne Steuergerät des Notebooks im
BIOS/Setup des Notebooks aus, sofern möglich.

Prescribed Use
The product is intended for connection to an IBM-compatible PC with PS/2 or USB
interface and serves e.g. to control the operating systems there.

Connection
a) Connection to USB Port
Plug the USB connector of the mouse into a USB port of your PC. Should you pos-
sess a USB hub you can connect the mouse there, too. The PC needs not to be tur-
ned off (only applicable to USB devices in particular!)
b) Connection to PS/2 Mouse Port
Before connecting the mouse to the PC with the USB-PS/2 adapter,
turn off your PC and separate it from the mains voltage. Disconnect the
mains plug!
The same applies if you want to disconnect the mouse.
If the mouse is connected or disconnected during operation of the PC
the mouse as well as the motherboard of the PC may be damaged.
The supplied USB-PS/2 adapter may only be used in connection with
the supplied mouse! Connecting other devices to the adapter damages
the adapter as well as the connected device!
Connect the USB connector of the mouse to the PS/2 mouse port of your PC using
the supplied USB-PS/2 adapter.
Reconnect the PC to the mains voltage and turn it on.
Driver Installation
For faultless operation via the USB port at least Windows 98 is necessary. In fact
there is a Windows 95 version on CD with a label stating "... supports USB". This
version, however, is not able to ensure mouse operation via USB. Use the PS/2 con-
nection for older Windows versions or DOS.
a) Connection to the USB Port
Windows recognises the device automatically. Follow all Windows instructions.
The necessary driver files are included in Windows.
b) Connection to the PS/2 Mouse Port
For operation under Windows 9x/ME no drivers are necessary, the mouse is
recognised automatically. The necessary driver files are included in Windows.
Cleaning
Periodically you should clean the mouse ball as well as the rollers.
Since the mouse ball suffers from dirt build-up through rolling on a mouse pad,
mouse movement may become more and more imprecise over time.
Terminate all applications and Windows and turn off your computer.
Disconnect the mains plug!
Now carefully unlock the mouse ball retainer (rotate it with two fingers anticlockwi-
se) and remove the retainer and the mouse ball.
With the help of a cotton bud slightly moistened in lukewarm water you can clean
the two rollers and the small counter wheel.
The best way to clean the mouse ball is with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened in
lukewarm water. You can equally use it to wipe your mouse pad.

Allow all parts to dry thoroughly before you re-insert the mouse ball and
the retainer and start working with the mouse again!

Tips & Notes
a) Connection to USB Port
• Should your computer have several USB interfaces it is irrelevant to which you
connect the mouse.
If the mouse is disconnected (e.g. if the PC is transported) you should reconnect it
to the same USB port since otherwise the hardware recognition identifies the mou-
se anew making a new installation of the drivers necessary.
• If the mouse does not work at a USB hub, connect it directly to a USB port of your
PC for a try.
• If the USB mouse is intended to serve as replacement for a conventional RS232 or
PS/2 mouse, please note that there is no USB support in the secured mode of
Windows 98/ME.
This means that no mouse pointer appears and the control of the operating system
has to be performed exclusively via keyboard!
Under DOS a USB mouse does not work either.
b) Connection to PS/2 Port (via supplied adapter)
• The supplied USB PS/2 adapter may only be used in connection with the supplied
mouse and not for other USB devices!
• Before connecting or disconnecting PS/2 devices to and from the PC, the PC has
to be turned off and separated from the mains voltage.
• If your PC has several PS/2 interfaces please refer to the user manual of your PC
or your motherboard to find out which of the PS/2 interfaces is suitable for a mou-
se.
• Should you have been using a RS232 mouse with your PC, the PS/2 interface pos-
sibly has to be switched on/activated in BIOS/set-up of the PC before start of ope-
ration.
• With notebooks parallel operation of an integrated control device (e.g. touchpad)
and of a PS/2 mouse might not be possible (with USB no problem at all should
occur through parallel use!).
In this case, turn off the internal control device of the notebook in BIOS/Set-up for
a try if possible.
