mechanical stress.
Do not leave packaging material lying around unattended. It may become
dangerous playing material for children.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into

there is a danger of an electric shock.
Wait until the product is at room temperature and the condensation has
evaporated. This may take several hours.
Then connect the power supply unit with the mains supply and put the product into
operation.

Connection
www.conrad.com
1.First, connect the RJ45 network connection of the network hub with a free network connection
of your router or switch (do not use an"uplink" port!).
Version 10/08
2.Then, connect the low-voltage plug of the power supply unit with the relevant jack on the
°
network hub.
3.Finally, insert the power supply unit into a (230V~/50Hz) mains socket.
4.The link LED for the relevant port at the router or switch must flash.
Software installation
Start the installation programme on the CD and follow all the instructions.
Initial operation
Start the installation programme (e.g. icon on the desktop).
Setting up the IP address
• Router and other devices with active DHPC server in the network
The network hub acquires a correct address from the available pool of addresses (e.g.
192.168.1.x and the "network mask" 255.255.255.0) from the DHCP server.
If desired, the configuration can now be started with a double-click on the network hub in the
menu, see chapter "Configuration via the web interface" below in this manual.
• No DHCP server available
The network cannot locate a DHCP server and allocates a fixed IP address itself (the address
is shown when you click on "Search" in the software window, e.g. 192.168.1.2).
To request the configuration page of the network hub and to change the IP address, it is
absolutely necessary that a computer with another IP address from the same address pool is
available (if the network hub shows e.g. 192.168.1.2, set your computer to 192.168.1.1 or
192.168.1.3, or similar).
An IP address must only be provided once within a network.
Depending on your existing network, it may be necessary to connect only one computer and
the network hub for configuration of the network hub.
Since the network hub supports "Auto MDI", no switch is necessary - just connect the network
hub directly with the network interface of you computer (which is temporarily set to
192.168.1.1 for configuration) via a patch cable.
The configuration can now be started with a double-click on the network hub in the software
menu, see chapter "Configuration via the web interface" below in this manual.
Operating the software
Via the button "Search", you can search for available USB network hubs and connected devices.
The second button changes between "Config" and "Connect", depending on whether you
clicked on an available network hub or USB device in the menu.
If you click on a network hub "Config" is shown; if you click on a USB device "Connect" or
"Disconnect" is shown.
Example:
• As a test, connect e.g. a USB stick and click on "Search". Normally, the network hub and the
connected device should be shown.
Attention: Do not connect an additional USB hub to the network hub. To the
4 connections ("USB 1"..... "USB 4") only terminal devices must be connected. It is
not possible to operate more than 4 devices with the network hub. If you want to
operate more devices, more network hubs are necessary.
The supplied software has to be installed on every PC that will have access to the
devices connected to the network hub.
If you are using a firewall or other antivirus software, a prompt may alert you that
the software (e.g. "USBServer") wants to access the network. For operation of the
network hub, it is absolutely necessary to permit access. Otherwise, it is not
possible to make a connection between the network hub and the connected USB
devices.
At start-up, Windows finds a new device (e.g. network USB device) and completes
the driver/software installation. If Windows wants to access the Windows update
server to find drivers, please select the option "Not this time" and confirm. Select the
automatic search for drivers in the next window, following the driver being installed.
If necessary, briefly disconnect the network hub from the power supply and re-connect
it to reset. Wait for a few seconds and click "Search" in the software. Now the network
hub should be displayed in the software menu.
Only one single computer can be connected to a USB device at a time. It is not
possible to connect e.g another computer with the USB device at the same time.
