Prescribed use
This product is designed for connection to an IBM-compatible PC with a USB inter-
face and serves for scanning suitable originals (single pages).

Connection to USB port
Switch on your PC and wait for the operating system to be completely loaded.
Then connect the USB connector of the scanner to a USB port of your PC.

Restrictions d'utilisation

Driver installation
For a trouble-free operation via the USB port at least Windows 98 is necessary.
There are Windows 95 versions with a CD containing the remark "...with USB sup-
port", however they are not capable of assuring an operation with the USB scanner.
Windows will recognize the device automatically. Please insert the CD and follow
all the Windows instructions.
Software installation
Should the installation menu not start automatically after inserting the CD
into your CD-rom drive, please start the "Autorun.exe" programme on the CD.
The procedure for newer software versions may differ a little.
In that case, please observe the information on the CD, e.g in "Readme.txt" files
or similar files.
After the installation procedure, a new start of windows may be necessary.
Tipps and notes
• Should the USB scanner not work at a USB hub, try to connect it directly to a USB
port of your PC/notebook.
Or use a USB hub with an own power supply / power pack, if the scanner does not
work at the PC/notebook.
• Place the page you want to scan face up into the scanner.
• Make sure that there are no staples or paperclips on the page you want to scan

Installation des pilotes
Windows 98 est requis au minimum pour un fonctionnement convenable via un port
USB. Il existe bien une version Windows 95 de prise en charge USB (sur le CD est
écrit « ... avec prise en charge USB »), mais elle n'est normalement pas capable
d'assurer l'exploitation USB irréprochable du scanner USB.
Windows détecte automatiquement le périphérique. Insérez le cd-rom joint et suivez
toutes les instructions de Windows.
Installation du logiciel
Au cas où le menu d'installation ne démarrerait pas automatiquement après avoir insé-
ré le cd-rom dans le lecteur correspondant, lancez le programme "Autorun.exe" du CD.
Il se peut que ce procédé soit un peu différent pour les versions ultérieures du logiciel.
Dans ce cas, tenez compte des autres informations du CD, par ex. les infos du fichier
"Lisezmoi.txt" ou similaire. Il est possible qu'un redémarrage de Windows soit
nécessaire après l'installation du logiciel.
Astuces et conseils
• Au cas où le scanner USB ne fonctionnerait pas sur un concentrateur USB, raccor-
dez-le, pour essayer, directement à un port USB de votre ordinateur portable/micro
ordinateur. Ou utilisez un concentrateur USB avec sa propre alimentation/bloc d'a-
limentation, si le scanner raccordé au PC/ordinateur portable ne fonctionne pas
correctement.
• Posez la feuille à numériseur sur le scanner, le côté écrit vers le haut.
• Veillez à ce qu'aucune agrafe ou aucun trombone ne soit attaché à la feuille à
numériser.
Please make sure that the USB port can supply 500mA (so-called high-
power USB port). The scanner cannot be used with a USB hub that has
no power supply / power pack!
In rare cases, the USB port of a notebook might not supply the necessary
power. Please use an external USB hub with its own power supply /power
pack.

Tenez compte du fait que le port USB peut fournir un courant de 500
mA (un soi-disant port USB de forte puissance). Le scanner ne peut pas
être exploité à un port USB sans alimentation/bloc d'alimentation!
Rarement il pourrait arriver que le port USB d'un ordinateur portable ne
fournisse pas le courant nécessité. Si cela arrive, utilisez un concen-
trateur USB externe avec sa propre alimentation/bloc d'alimentation.
