Operating instructions
USB-C GIGABIT NETWORK ADAPTER
Item no. 1687475
Intended use
The product is intended for connection to a USB3.1 port (Type-C™) on a computer, where
it makes a network port with 10/100/1000 Mbps speed available via a cable with RJ45
connection. The USB network adapter detects the possible speed automatically (auto-sensing)
and uses the highest possible. The auto-MDIX feature allows you to dispense with a crossover
cable for physical connection of two devices. For more information on the supported protocols
and functions, please see the "Technical data".
This product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture (e.g.
in bathrooms) must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the
product for purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition,
improper use can cause hazards such as a short circuit or fire. Read the operating instructions
carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties only
together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with statutory, national and European regulations. All company and

b) Persons and product
• Do not cover the USB network adapter. Always ensure sufficient ventilation of the
USB network adapter. It may heat up considerably during operation.
Operation
a) Driver installation, connection
• Connect the USB network adapter to a USB3.1 port (Type-C™) on a computer in order to
install the requisite drivers. The port must be able to supply a current of 800 mA.
• Connect the RJ45 port of the USB network adapter to your switch or router using a 1:1
connected network cable.
• Insert the supplied data carrier into the respective drive of your computer.
• The system automatically selects the appropriate drivers and installs them. Depending on
the operating system version, administrator rights may be required to install the drivers. If
installation does not start automatically, double click on the setup file to start the installation.
Follow the installation instructions and complete the installation.
• Check that the hoist was installed correctly. The driver must be displayed as "Realtek USB
Family Controller". In Windows, you will find it under "Network Adapter". In other systems,
e.g. Linux, network devices may be displayed differently. See the operating instructions of
these systems for information on where the network devices can be found.
• You can also check the settings of the device, e.g. duplex mode, etc., and set them according
to your preferences.
• You may need to restart your operating system for the USB network adapter to work correctly.
• Your connected computer now has a network connection via the USB 3.1 port (Type-C™).
The enclosed data carrier has a link to the website to update the drivers to the latest
version. Follow the instructions to download new drivers and to update the USB
network adapter.
b) LED indicator
• The USB network adapter features an LED for function display with the following functions:
- LED flashes: Data transmission
- LED off: No network connection
Tips and useful information
• Only connect the USB network adapter to a USB3.1 port (Type-C™) on a computer. A USB
port with a lower specification is too slow.
• If you have a network or system administrator who is responsible for your network (for example
in a larger company), allow him or her carry out the connection and driver installation; do not
install the USB network adapter yourself.
• The stated maximum data transmission rate of 10/100/1000 MBit cannot, in practice, be
achieved. This is due to the transmission method used, transmission errors, other devices
on the network etc.
• If you are using Windows, it may take some time for a PC to appear on the network. When
you switch the computer on and Windows is loaded on all computers after a few seconds, you
cannot usually access another PC immediately.
• If, after a few minutes, it is still not possible to access other PCs, check any firewall and/or
virus scanner settings that may be used.
• Access permissions must also be set accordingly, if you are using an operating system that
offers such features.
• Consult the applicable operating instructions when using a network printer or other devices
on the network.
• There are numerous reasons as to why a network connection may not be successful.
• Please refer to the appropriate specialist literature or to a specialist technician.
- If you are not using a DHCP Server (e.g. integrated into all DSL-routers), you should assign
a fixed IP address to each device on the network.
- For example, set the router to 192.168.1.1, set the first computer to 192.168.1.2, the
second computer to 192.168.1.3, and so on.
- The first three digits must be the same on all computers; the last digit can range from 1
to 254.
- The "subnet mask" must be set to 255.255.255.0 for all computers on the network.
- Please keep in mind that an IP address (such as 192.168.1.1) can only be used once on the
network. If you set your router to IP address 192.168.1.1, no other device on the network
can use this IP address!
