Maintenance and Cleaning
Servicing or repair may only be carried out by a specialist/specialist workshop.
There are no components on the inside of the product that need maintenance by you, this is why
you should never open it (apart from the described approach to insert or change the battery, in
these instructions).
A soft cloth, slightly dampened with lukewarm water, can be used for cleaning.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or chemical solu-
tions which could damage the housing or even impair operation.
Do not spray the outdoor sensor with a garden hose or similar.
Don't press too hard on the display, this may cause scratch marks or lead
to failure of the display.
Handling
The outdoor sensor is suitable to be used in a protected outdoor area. However, you should def-
initely avoid direct splashing, e.g. from a garden hose or another irrigation system.
Do not use the outdoor sensor in or under water!
Install the outdoor sensor vertical (see illustration above, „Operating elements"). Otherwise
water can get into the outdoor sensor and destroy it.
Transmission range
The transmission range of the radio signals between outdoor sensor and weather station is up
to 100m under optimum conditions. This is also often designated as "free-field coverage".
However, this ideal arrangement (e.g. weather station and outdoor sensor on a
plain, even meadow without trees, houses etc.) never exists in practice.
Normally the weather station is installed in the house and the outdoor sensor is mounted, e.g.
outdoor next to the window.
The coverage can partly be limited considerably by:
• walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
• coated/metallised insulated glass
• vehicles
• trees, brushes, earth, rocks
• Proximity to metal & conducting objects (e.g. radiators)
• proximity to human body
• broad-band interference, e.g. in residence areas (DECT telephones, mobiles, wireless head-
phones and loudspeakers, other radio weather stations, etc.)
• Proximity to electric motors, transformers, power supply units, computers
• the proximity to improperly shielded or uncovered operating computers or other electric appli-
ances
Since local conditions vary from site to site, a definite range cannot be guar-
anteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a detached house.
When the weather station doesn't receive any data from the outdoor sensor (despite new bat-
teries), reduce the distance between outdoor sensor and weather station, change the installa-
tion site.
Disposal
a) General Information
When the product is no longer usable, dispose of it in accordance with the appli-
cable statutory regulations.
b) Disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries
You, as the end user, are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries/rechargeable batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with
the following symbols which point out that the disposal via the domestic waste is
prohibited. The designations for the relevant heavy metals are the following:
Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on battery/rechargeable battery,
e.g. under the rubbish bin icons on the left).
You can deposit your spend batteries/accumulators free of charge at the local
collection points in your community, at our outlets or everywhere else where bat-
teries/accumulators are sold!
Thus, you comply with legal obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
