Inserting/replacing batteries
• Open the battery compartment (4) on the back of the device.
• Insert two new 1.5 V AAA batteries into the battery compartment, observing correct
polarity. Correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• IReclose the battery compartment.
• IIf the device no longer works of the display (1) shows "LO", the batteries are dis-
charged and must be replaced following the instructions above.
• IUse alkaline batteries only for longer battery life.
Fastening the wrist strap
• IPull the small loop through the eyelet on the breathalyzer.
• IInsert the large loop through the small loop and pull tight.

Operation

I n order to arrive at the most exact reading possible, you should not eat
anything, smoke or consume alcohol 30 minutes before using the breatha-
lyzer.
Avoid eating bonbons or chewing chewing gum.
Y ou may repeat the measurement three or four times to check the reading.
But you should wait at least 2 minutes between measurement. The last two
readings are the most exact.
K eep the breathalyzer away from volatile substances such as paints, ben-
zine, thinners, etc.
D o not blow any smoke into the breathalyzer and prevent liquids from en-
tering the breathalyzer. Liquids may damage the sensor.
B low evenly, without interruption and without too much pressure into the
mouthpiece to avoid falsifying readings.
Warming up
• Push the POWER button (2) for approx. 2 seconds until a second beep sounds to turn
on the device.
• The display (1) shows "WAIT" and a "0" moves from left to right.
Warming up may take a little longer (max. 30-40 seconds) if you are using the
device for the first time or after an extended period of disuse.
Readings
• After warming up, the display (1) shows "BLOW" and a beep sounds.
• A countdown from 10 to 0 begins.
• Inhale deeply and exhale deeply down into the mouthpiece (5) without interruption.
• After the countdown and analysis, a beep sounds and the alcohol level is displayed.
• If the alcohol level is between 0.02 - 0.05% (0.2 - 0.5 per mille) a slowly changing
alarm signal sounds.
• If the alcohol level is above 0.05% (0.5 per mille), a quickly changing alarm signal
sounds.
• If the alcohol level is below 0.005% (0.05 per mille), the display (1) shows "0,000%".
• Push the UNIT button (3) to switch the unit of measure while the reading is dis-
played. The following units are available: %, per mille and mg/l. The unit of measure
remains set even after the device is turned off.
• The reading is shown for approx. 15 seconds, then the breathalyzer turns off auto-
matically.
You can turn off the device manually by pushing and holding the POWER
button for approx. 2 seconds.
Maintenance and cleaning
The breathalyzer is maintenance-free apart replacing the battery.
Use a slightly damp cloth only to clean the breathalyzer. Do not use any solvents that
may cause damage to the housing surface and the sensor.
Make sure that no liquids enter the mouthpiece (5).
Do not store the breathalyzer in spaces with contaminated air.
Disposal
a) Product
Used electrical and electronic devices are recyclable and may not be dis-
posed of with the household waste!
A t the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with ap-
plicable regulatory guidelines.
R emove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them sepa-
rately from the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batter-
ies/rechargeable batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labelled with this symbol to in-
dicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations
for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead
(name on (rechargeable) batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your
municipality, our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the envi-
ronment.
