Solar LED spotlight, 1 x 3 W,
white
Item no. 57 70 10
Intended use
The product is intended to provide outdoor lighting independent of mains supply. Optimum positioning is pos-
sible due to the separation of the LED spotlight and the solar module and the use of a long connection cable.
If the brightness level is adequate, the NiMH rechargeable battery integrated in the LED spotlight is
recharged by the solar module. The LED spotlight is powered by the battery in twilight conditions or at night.
A distinctive feature is a PIR sensor built into the LED spotlight. It responds to temperature changes within
the detection range (e.g. if a person enters the detection range) and activates the LED spotlight for a con-
fi gurable period of time.
Use of this device in any other way than as described above is not permitted. Always observe the safety
instructions and all other information included in these operating instructions!

General Notes about Batteries
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around in the open. There is a
danger that children or pets may swallow them, danger to life! If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Make sure that rechargeable batteries are not opened, short-circuited or thrown into a fi re, as there is
a risk of explosion.
• Old or fl at rechargeable batteries can leak liquid chemicals that may damage the device. Leaking or
damaged batteries may burn the skin if touched. Under these circumstances, protect your hands with
suitable gloves.
Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR motion sensor responds to temperature changes within the detection range, e.g. if a person (an
animal or a car) enters the detection range with a different temperature from the rest of the detection range.
The attainable range depends on the ambient temperature of the background and the temperature or the
size of the moving object.
A sidewise movement (and not towards the PIR
motion sensor) of an object through the detection
range is an optimum case for detection of the tem-
perature variation.
For adjustment of the detection range, the PIR mo-
tion sensor can be turned through 90° to the left or
to the right.
The range can be reduced by means of the cover
provided, see the fi gure on the right.
It is advisable to mount the LED spotlight at a height
of at least 2.5 m.
As can be seen from the fi gures at bottom, the maxi-
mum range of 8 or 4 m for 2.5 m mounting height is
only applicable at the ground level.

Version 01/13
Wall Mounting
• Remove the wall-mounting plate (1) after loosening the fastening screw (2).
• Perforate the mounting holes in the wall-mounting plate e.g. with a pointed screw-
driver.
• Fasten the wall-mounting plate onto the wall using the appropriate screws and a
dowel if needed. In doing that, observe the correct position of the plate.
Avoid damaging cables or wires when tightening the screws or drilling holes!
• Mount the LED spotlight onto the wall-mounting plate and fasten it with the fasten-
ing screw that was initially removed.
Mounting with the use of the holding bracket provided
The scope of delivery contains a holding bracket for both
the LED spotlight and the solar module.
It enables mounting of the LED spotlight and the solar
module e.g. on a beam, a board or similar.
First put the L-shaped metal arm as shown on the picture
below (1) through the LED spotlight with mounting bracket
set therein, then swivel the metal arm backwards (2).
Mounting onto the pipe is also possible. For this purpose, the holding bracket is
provided with an appropriate gap.
First put the L-shaped metal arm as shown on the picture below (1) through
the LED spotlight with mounting bracket set therein, then swivel the metal arm
backwards (2).
Set on the plastic bracket and fasten it with a wing nut to make sure the LED spotlight is mounted securely.
And fi nally it is necessary to set the black plastic plug provided onto the end of the L-shaped metal arm, see
the picture above.
Mounting the solar module
Wall Mounting
Fasten the the installation pad of the solar module onto steady surface with 4 screws
and dowels if needed.
Avoid damaging cables or wires when tightening the screws or drilling holes!
Mounting with the use of the holding bracket provided
First put the L-shaped metal arm as shown on the picture below (1) through the instal-
lation pad of the solar module. Then swivel the metal arm downwards (2).
As in the case of the LED spotlight, the solar module can be fastened to a beam, a
board or a pipe.
Set on the plastic bracket and fasten it with a wing nut
to make sure the solar module is mounted securely. It is
then necessary to set the black plastic plug provided onto
the end of the L-shaped metal arm.
Choose the installation site away from the heat sources, e.g. discharge openings, other lumi-
naires etc.
Do not aim the PIR motion sensor at the street, otherwise each passing vehicle will trigger the
PIR motion sensor with its heat, therefore turning the LED spotlight on too frequently.
Choose a mounting site that is exposed to sunlight as long as possible during the day. The more
sunlight that is falling onto the solar module, the more complete the battery charge will be. It
helps to ensure operation in case of longer adverse weather periods.
The solar module should be oriented southwards and ideally mounted in a position enabling sun
beams to fall perpendicularly to the solar module at noon.
