2. General information about the VIT-A2

The VIT-A2 DSL Tester allows field service technicians to quickly and
easily check for successful provision of ADSL services on a customer line.
ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ are all supported.
The VIT-A2 DSL Tester is connected in the line in place of the customer's
modem in the exchange direction. Possible connection points for the tester
include the main distribution frame, the cable distribution cabinet or the
customer connection point.
The tester checks for the presence of the remote power supply for POTS
or ISDN on the line in order to ensure correct connection of the a/b wires.
It also checks whether synchronization is possible with the DSL access
multiplexer (DSLAM) in the exchange.
Using the Ethernet interface built into the device, it is also possible to use
a notebook to read out various connection parameters specific to ADSL or
ADSL2+ for further analysis.
The VIT-A2 DSL Tester does not require calibration.
