CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Caution: Always unplug the device from the mains before cleaning.
• The device, power cord and plug must not be immersed in water or other liquids for cleaning.
Clean these using a dry cloth.
• For more persistent dirt, the external surface of the device can be carefully wiped off with a damp
cloth and subsequently carefully dried. Be careful to ensure, that no moisture is allowed to infiltrate
into the device, especially in the vicinity of the function switch and ventilation slits.
• When cleaning, do not use any harsh cleaning agents, wire brushes, scouring pads or similar hard
objects, which may scratch the outer surfaces.
CD
Always use CDs in line with the following guidelines:
Advice on the handling of CDs
• Take the CD out of the case and insert it.
• Avoid touching the playing surface.
• Do not affix any labels nor write on the surfaces.
• Do not bend the CD.
Storage
• Keep the CDs stored in their cases.
• Do not expose to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high moisture or dusty environments.
Cleaning a CD
• If the CD is dirty (e.g. with dust, dirt, fingerprints), it can be wiped with a dry cloth
• Clean the CD from the CD outwards towards the edges.
• Never use petrol, thinner, cassette cleaning fluid or anti-static spray.
• Always ensure the CD compartment is properly closed, so that the optical lens does not become
dusty.
• Do not touch the optical lens.

INSERTING BATTERIES INTO THE REMOTE CONTROL

• Slide the battery compartment lid in the direction of the arrows "PULL TO OPEN" part way along
and then fold the lid up in order to remove it from the device.
• Insert 6 type D (R 20) batteries into the battery compartment, taking care to respect the correct
polarity of the batteries.
When doing so, the black ribbon should be under the batteries and the end of the ribbon should
be situated at the front top part. To remove the batteries, you simply pull this ribbon to extract the
batteries from the battery compartment.
• Subsequently put the battery compartment lid back in place and slide it in the direction of the
large arrow until it audibly clicks into place.
• When the batteries are too weak, the device will no longer function perfectly. Ensure batteries are
replaced promptly.
