The instructions below are a supplement to the instructions
included with the product. They give additional informa-
tion and descriptions for advanced functions on the m83
decoder.
The m83 decoder (60832) can be used to switch solenoid
items / signals without their own decoder, as well as lights
or motors.

Operation with MM (Motorola)

Advanced Functions

Additional functions can be set on the m83 turnout decoder
by means of programming.
The programming of parameters must be done on the
programming track. Various parameters can be set using
Address 80. The two relevant indicator lights on the decoder
blink for monitoring during the data transfer.
Programming procedure (Example: with 6021 Control Unit):
• Reset at the controller
• Switch the item
• Program
• Switch the item again
The procedure for programming a locomotive is the same
with the 6021 Control Unit (www.maerklin.de -> Service ->
Technische Informationen).
Note: The parameter settings are no longer available after
an mfx registration at mfx-capable central controllers. The
configuration then occurs by means of mfx.

Operation with mfx

mfx is used only for the registration process for the decoder
at the controller or for the configuration of the decoder.
Switching operation continues to take place under MM or
DCC. A requirement is the use of a CS 2 or newer.

Operation with DCC

Advanced Functions
Additional functions can be set on the m83 turnout decoder
with programming. Most of the CVs can be set „in operati-
on" (POM).
The address on which the first turnout is to be set of the
decoder to be programmed must be called up in order to
program the CVs.
If the address itself is to be changed with programming, then
the turnout decoder must be connected to the programming
track and the dip switches 1 to 9 must be at „OFF" – the
decoder can then be programmed with the address that was
previously set or programmed.
In addition to the general settings for the decoder, it is also
possible to do various settings at the individual decoder
outputs. The switching functions possible in this regard can
be found in the table on Page 22.
The 60821 control circuit is also required for the possible
control of a motor.
Note: The CV settings are no longer available after an mfx
registration is done at mfx-capable central controllers. The
configuration is then done with mfx.
