INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Summary
The "CAMP Cobra 6" device is a retractable fall arrester certified under standard EN360:2002.
Use
During user movement, the webbing [2] winds and unwinds on a reel inside the retracting device
[1]. The webbing is held constantly under tension by a re-winder spring. In the case of a fall, a

mechanism locks the cable and stops the fall. The device is fitted with an internal shock absorber

that reduces the braking force (<6kN). Each time you use the device, check the locking function
by pulling hard on the webbing. Do not release the webbing suddenly: guide it back by hand on to
the re-winder reel inside the device using the specific guiding lanyard supplied with the product.
Check that the webbing unwinds and rewinds freely, with no obstruction. The maximum
admissible load is 150kg.
The attachment hole [3] must be connected to a structural anchor point by means of a connector
EN362. The structural anchor point where the system is connected must be above the user,
must conform to standard EN795 and must have a minimum strength of 10kN.
Vertical use
In this type of use, user movement is vertical (climb and descent).
The swivel connector [4] must be connected to the fall arrest attachment point of a full-body
harness EN361.
To avoid any pendulum effect after a fall, you must work at an angle of less than 40° with respect
to the vertical of the device. There must be a clearance distance of at least 3 m below the user's
feet. If this space is not available the user must pay particular attention, as protection in the case
of a fall may not be complete (fig.1). When using horizontal lifelines as the anchor point, take
account of the lateral flexibility of the lifeline when calculating the clearance distance below the
user (refer to the lifeline user manual).
Horizontal use
Cobra 6 is not certified for horizontal use with possibility to fall over edges: any horizontal use
with fall risk is strictly forbidden (fig.2)
The device may be used on horizontal or inclined surfaces for restraint and positioning
applications only, havwithout any possibility to fall.
Provide adequate rescue equipment and allow for adequate worker crew training, so that they
can act quickly in the case of a fall.

The characteristics of the connector are indicated in the chart B. Class T corresponds to the
termination connectors intended to allow a direction of load predetermined along the major axis.
The connection of the connector is indicated in the fig.3. Warning: certain situations may reduce
the strength of the connector (fig.4). Any external pressure on the gate is dangerous (fig.5).
REVISION
In addition to the normal inspection required before, during and after each use, this product
should be annually examined by a competent person; the recording of this check should be done
on the life sheet of the product. Check the legibility of the product's markings.
In case of one of the following defects are present, the product should be withdrawn from service
immediately:
! damage to the webbing (cuts/burns);
! damage to the stitchings (cuts/burns);
! damage to the connection between the webbing and the swivel connector;
! malfunctioning of the retracting or locking functions;
! deep corrosion (which does not disappear after a light rubbing with glass paper);
! serious damage to the housing;
! malfunctioning or damage with the connector;
! partial or total stretching at the energy absorber [5].
Any product or component showing any defect or wear, or if in doubt, should be withdrawn from
service immediately. Each product in the safety system can be damaged during a fall and must
be always inspected before use it again. Do not continue to use a product after a major fall
because a damage may have occurred, even no external signs are visible.
LIFETIME
The product lifetime is 10 years from the date of manufacturing, unless any defect appears and
provided that periodical check-ups are made at least once every 12 months and the results are
recorded in the life sheet of the product. The following factors can reduce the lifetime of the
product: intense use, damage to components of the product, contact with chemical substances,
high temperatures, tears and abrasions, violent impacts, failure to maintain as recommended.
When suspect that the product is no more safety and reliable, please contact C.A.M.P. spa or the
distributor.
