Speaker connection
You must not switch on the amplifier without spea-
kers being connected (in other words: without elec-
tric load)! Without speakers connected, the ampli-
fier might be destroyed, at worst, when applying
an audio signal to the amplifier input! Please bear
in mind this distinctive feature of pure tube ampli-
fiers in comparison to transistor amplifiers!
Initial operation of the amplifier
Please check prior initial connection of the applian-
ce whether the tubes have been removed from its
normal position during transport or unpacking.
Make sure that the tubes stand upright and secure-
ly in their base and are not in tilted position. The
tubes should not have any white stain inside (which
indicates that air has penetrated the tube) and must
not have any cracks. In case the tubes are dama-
ged, please do not switch on the appliance and
contact your local dealer.
Heat
Do not touch the tubes during operation of the
amplifier and within 30 minutes after switching off
the amplifier.
Noise
First check the source appliances for possible
cause. One of them could be set on a low output
signal because of which you would be forced to

Tubes are wearing parts and
are thus barred from warranty claims!
increase the volume of the amplifier to an exceptio-
nally high level. Adjust the signal strength of the
respective source appliance to those of the other
sources. If the problem appears at a single chan-
nel only, one of the tubes could have been dama-
ged. Please contact your dealer in such a case.
Life span, tube replacement
Tubes are more sensitive than transistors and may
be damaged under inappropriate transport circum-
stances. Vacuum tubes cannot reach the life span
of transistors, even under normal circumstances.
But tubes, as they are installed in this appliance,
generally operate for several thousand hours. The
amount of annual operating hours has an impact
on the life expectation of a tube. We recommend
switching off the amplifier when you will not use it
for several hours. Because of that, most of the tubes
will work for many years, but might have to be
replaced a few times during the life span of the
appliance. It rarely happens that a tube already
fails after a short time. Please have the tubes of the
amplifier checked if you observe exceptionally
high background noise, considerably lower spatia-
lity or stronger distortion. Please contact your
dealer in such cases. Your dealer will also advice
you, when you are not sure, whether replacing the
tubes would be suggestive or not in terms of sound
after perennial use of the amplifier.
