2.4.3 MIDI

Connection diagram:

Edition: 19.02.01
MIDI controllers can be used via the popular MIDI interface (Musical
Instrument Digital Interface).
This interface is designed as a 5 mA current loop isolated by opto cou-
plers. According to the specifications the cable length should not ex-
ceed 15 m. For MIDI links 5-pin DIN connectors are used. On the
transmitter side, the ground pin (no. 2) is used for the screen, but the
screen is not connected to the receiver ground.

The MIDI data rate is specified as follows:
31.25 kBaud; ±1%, asynchronous
1 start-, 1 stop bit, 8 data bits.
Multiple MicADs are interconnected according to the following prin-
ciple (possible with the MIDI or RS422 interface):

CONTROL

INPUT
In this way up to 16 units can be linked. Note that only the MicAD
selected by the remote control unit may send its level status to avoid
data loss (see Sysex messages). So it is the remote control unit's task to
mute all automatically generated MicAD messages when switching
over to another unit.
(Request Sync Status with update = OFF; Request Level Status with
update = OFF).
