When the microphone is to be used outdoors, a wind shield
should be fitted. The WS 740 is designed to stop low-frequency
interference caused by turbulent wind and can be fitted on the
microphone basket.

Adjusting the polar pattern

The relevant polar pattern is adjusted by a knurled knob
on the front side of the microphone.

The "R" position designates "Remote Control" which, however,
is not available and might be used for future options.

Adjusting the pre-attenuation

Without pre-attenuation (0 dB) the microphone has a
maximum SPL of 127 dB. At higher SPL pre-attenuation of
10 dB or 20 dB can be adjusted with the knurled knob at the
rear of the microphone (indicating -10 dB or -20 dB).
