Both hot and cold tap water can be used.
To increase the service life of your pressurized
steam ironing system you should always also use
distilled water.
When using distilled water it must be mixed with
tap water (ratio 1:1).
Do not add any descaling or chemical substances
or ironing water additives! This will damage the
steam station and the steam iron.
Hard water in particular will require the use of
distilled water.
Your competent water supply company will inform
you of the hardness of your water.
Make sure to always observe the ironing instructions
shown onto your garment.
Protection and optimum results are guaranteed
only with the use of the special Leifheit ironing
board cover for AirActive L ironing boards.

• It is possible that water droplets are emitted together
with the steam while ironing, when the iron has not
yet reached the right temperature or if condensed
moisture is trapped in the feed line.
• For a good ironing result, we recommend activating
the steam emission push button [18] intermittently
to dampen and then iron the fabric until it is dry.
By dampening the fabric, the fibres open up; subse-
quent ironing with a dry iron smoothes and fixes the
fabric.
• Use steam to open up the fibres of the fabric,
without steam to fix the fibres.
• The warning lamp indicating steamreadiness [12]
goes out when ironing using steam, and lights up
again during breaks in working.
• When working with steam, do not set the temperature
control [17] of the steam iron below the
as otherwise water may escape from the sole plate
of the iron.
Attention! This may result in damage to the sole
plate of the iron.
• When working without steam (steam generator
switched off), ensure that the temperature control
[17] of the steam iron is set to the right tempera-
ture for the laundry to be ironed.
Note: At lower temperatures, it is possible that
water may be discharged from the sole of the iron.
• All standard textiles can be steam ironed.
• When working with steam, ensure that the tempera-
ture to which the iron is set is not below
the mark. Cover delicate textiles with an iron-
ing cloth, for example by Leigheit (72415).
• With delicate materials, or if in doubt, test the iron
on a discreet area first.
• When using a dry iron, the recommended tempera-
ture for the febric in question can be set by turning
the temperature.
• Alway iron seams, pleats and folds first.
• Iron fabrics with dark or bright colour from the back
to maintain the brilliance of the colours. When using
the easy-glide sole, all fabrics can be ironed from
the front.
• Never iron plastic-coated fabrics or decorations (or
use the gentle sole plate).
• Spraying or starching your laundry is a thing of the
past and much more environmentally friendly!
• Velvets and woollens (including mohair) and gloves
and bags can be freshened up very effectively
through careful steam treatment.
To do this, pass the steam iron slowly over the
material, at a slight distance from it, with the steam
function
• Carpets can be made to look like new and areas on
furnishings where the nap has been flattened can be
removed if the flattened area is steam-treated and
then brushed carefully.
• Linens can be ironed with a generous amount of
steam. Iron dark fabrics from the inside to prevent
shine spots from forming. Cuffs and lapels are
emphasized by being ironed on the outside.
• Do not run the steam iron over or set it down onto
zips, clasps etc., to prevent the sole from becoming
scratched.
• The sole of the iron must be kept clean at all times
(see Notes on Cleaning).

• After use, wait for the equipment to cool down;
check that the cable does not come into contact with
the hot parts.
• If you do have not used your steam iron for some
time, first iron a cloth for 30 seconds with the steam
function on to clean out the internal water/steam
circulation.
• Store the steam iron in a dry place.
• Any water remaining in the reservoir after use does
not need to be emptied.
• Fabrics made of wool, cotton, or fine linen can be
ironed on the inside with steam or on the outside, in
which case a thin ironing cloth should be laid over
them to prevent shine spots from forming. Rein-
forced fabrics require more moisture. Iron whites
and lightcoloured items on the outside and dark
fabrics on the inside. Embroidery is emphasized to
good effect by being ironed on the inside.
• When using the gentle sole plate, all fabrics can
be ironed on the outside without shine spots being
formed.
• Every time you start to use the iron (including when
being used for the first time), and if you have not
ironed using steam for several minutes, press the
steam jet button several times to remove cold water
from the steam circulation.
