Operating Instructions
Before starting another brew cycle, wait 10 minutes after having switched off the appliance to allow the
heating element to cool.
Caution! If the appliance is not allowed to cool before immediate repeated use, water filled in the
water tank (13) may overheat and a spray of steam could be released, creating a risk of burns.

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Always unplug the appliance and let it cool before attempting to clean. Never put the appliance into
water or any other liquid!
• After daily use, clean the filter basket (16), carafe (12), drip plate and drip tray (6), filter holder (4) and
filters (7-9) in hot soapy water.
• When the appliance has fully cooled, wipe the boiler outlet (17) with a damp cloth.
• Should the filters (7-9) be clogged by ground coffee, use a soft brush to clean them.
• Immediately after having prepared frothed milk, clean the steam nozzle (5) and its frothing device to
remove any milk residues. For this purpose, let some steam escape for another 1-2 seconds (as
described in Brewing Cappuccino) to flush any residual milk out of the nozzle. Then, detach – after the
appliance has cooled down – the frothing device from the steam nozzle. Thoroughly rinse the frothing
device. Wipe the metal nozzle with a wet cloth and a mild detergent. Dry parts and re-assemble.
For hygienic reasons, it is imperative to clean the nozzle after each use!
• Do not wipe the interior of the water tank (13) with a cloth or the like. This may cause deposits which
can deteriorate the perfect operation of the appliance. Regularly rinse with clear water.
• Wipe exterior with a damp cloth to remove superficial stains. For stubborn stains, use a nylon or plastic
pad with a non-abrasive cleanser.
• Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleansers.
• Never attempt to clean any of the accessories in the dishwasher!
