Relief Insert® Walker
Lower leg / foot orthosis
The Relief Insert® Walker is a lower leg / foot orthosis
for immobilisation with simultaneous mobilisation.
To individually adapt the walker to the patient,
fi rst open the two fastening tabs of the shoe and
remove the orthosis from the shoe.
Use as a backing splint
Relief Insert®:
1. Open all four external Velcro fasteners on the ortho -
sis. To prevent the Velcro fasteners from getting in
your way, simply fasten them behind, back onto the
respective fl eece side.
2. Open the inner Velcro strap at the back of the foot
and pull the strap on one side out of the opening on
the orthosis and set it aside next to the orthosis.
3. Take the inner liner out of the orthosis and open the
large and small Velcro tab of the inner liner.
4. Place the foot in the inner liner of the orthosis such
that the heel sits comfortably in the heel opening
of the liner.
5. Fasten the large and small Velcro tabs of the inner
liner together as tightly as necessary.
6. Now fasten the self-adhesive Velcro fastener
included in delivery to the underside of the insole
in the shoe, approx. 3 – 4 cm from the distal end.
7. Remove the anti-adhesive paper from the self-
adhesive Velcro fastener and secure the insole to
the counterpart on the footplate.
8. Guide the patient's leg back into the orthosis with
the inner liner closed. Ensure that the lateral shells
are positioned in the centre of the lower leg.
9. Pull both of the white cover strips which are secured
on the inner side of the orthosis completely out of
the orthosis and secure the two shells of the orthosis
for fi nal positioning in the centre on the inner liner.
10. Now pull the strap of the inner Velcro fastener back
through the opening of the orthosis and close the
strap as tightly as necessary.
11. Finally, close the orthosis using the four external
Velcro fasteners.
Use as a lower leg / foot orthosis
Relief Insert® Walker:
12. With the orthosis ready, step into the open Relief
Dual® off -loading shoe from the front. Make sure
that the insole is positioned securely at the front
in the shoe.
13. Using the external tab in the heel area of the shoe,
you can step into the shoe and position the orthosis.
14. Placement of the Velcro fasteners (A, B) allows
adaptation to the left or right foot.
15. Position the upper Velcro fastener A to the left or
right so that the double-sided hook tape is located
on the outside of the shoe.
16. Fold it around the tab and secure it fi rmly. If needed,
the length of the upper Velcro fastener can be
individually shortened.
17. The inner shoe tabs can optionally be placed over
each other (C).
18. Close the shoe with the lower Velcro fastener B such
that the DARCO logo is on the outside of the shoe.
Note: The lower leg / foot orthosis Relief Insert®
Walker may only be used in combination with the
Relief Dual® off -loading shoe for walking. The ortho -
sis is not designed for walking without a shoe.
