3. Setting the control mode
The LCD display indicates the control setting. Three control modes
are available. The setting can be changed by pressing the "+" and
"-" keys. The displayed control mode is set and stored if no key is
pressed for approx. 5 seconds.
a) Fuzzy control (Fig.10). Standard factory setting, best control behavior.
b) Fast Fuzzy control (Fig.11). Faster warming up than with a), very good
control behavior in stabilized state. ">" displays Fast Fuzzy control
mode.
c) Two-Point control (Fig.12). Faster warming up than with a) and b),
severe overswinging on first warm-up.
Possible application: Using the ETS-D4 fuzzy with KSR 11 as a limit
monitor. The heater or instrument remains switched on until the set
nominal temperature is exceeded. ":" signifies Two-Point control
mode.
4. Adjustment of the Er 5 response time
This is the amount of time required to detect that the measurement
sensor is not in the medium (when the heater is turned on).
Safety information: This detection is not activated unless the differen-
ce between the sensor temperature and the target temperature is >5K if
the measurement sensor temperature remains constant (+/-0,5K).
The adjusted Er5 response time is displayed in the LCD display, for
example 3minutes (Fig.4a). You can change the setting to any value
between 3 and 20 minutes (in increments of minutes) by pressing the
"+" or "-" key. The adjusted time is accepted by the system if no key
is pressed for about 5 seconds.

Operating modes

The ETS-D4 fuzzy can be run in three different operating modes. (Displays
see Fig.13 to Fig.15)
Operating mode "A"
the instrument is switched on the nominal temperature is always set to -
10°C. The nominal temperature can be adjusted with the "+" and "-" keys.
The HI-TEMP (maximum nominal temperature setting) can only be set in
ETSD40701
The instrument is factory-set to this mode. When
this mode.
Operating mode "B"
In this mode the most recently set nominal
temperature is adopted and becomes active when the instrument is switched
on again. The setting can be adjusted with the "+" and "-" keys.
Operating mode "C"
In this mode the current settings are adopted
and become active when the instrument is switched on again. The setting
cannot be adjusted. Holding down the "+" key when switching on the
instrument switches to the next operating mode in the sequence A-B-C-A-
B-C-A etc.
Setting the HI-TEMP
The "HI-TEMP" (maximum nominal temperature setting) can only be set
in operating mode "A". After the self-test, HI-TEMP appears in the LCD
display (Fig.16). The HI-TEMP can now be set between 0 and 400°C
using the "+" and "-" keys. The displayed HI-TEMP is set and stored if
no key is pressed for approx. 5 seconds. The LCD display then shows "HI
OK" (Fig.17).

Setting the nominal temperature

The nominal temperature is adjusted in 1K steps by pressing the "+"
and "-" keys. If the key is held down for longer than 5 seconds, the
nominal temperature setting changes in 10K steps. The LCD display
shows: the current actual temperature with physical units, the nominal
temperature at top right, and OFF to indicate that the heater of the
connected device is switched off. (Fig.18)
If the set nominal temperature is higher than the current actual tem-
perature, the word OFF in the display changes to ON and the heater
of the connected device is switched on. (Fig.19)
The star ( ) in the LCD display indicates that the instrument is being
operated in mode "B" or "C". (Fig.20)
