Correct use
The IKATRON ETS-D4 fuzzy is an instrument for the
precise control of temperatures. The sensor of the
instrument must be immersed at least 20mm deep in
the medium to be tempered.
The instrument can be connected to any magnetic
agitator with contact thermometer connection which
conforms with the requirements listed in the
Technical Data (see section Technical Data).
Unpacking
Please unpack the machine carefully and inspect for damage. It is
important that any transit damage should be noted at the time of
unpacking. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to investigate
immediately (post, rail or freight forwarder).

8
Plug the instrument into the contact thermometer jack on the magnetic
8
agitator (e.g. IKA RCT basic or IKA RET basic). The instrument is activa-
9
ted when the agitator is switched on. If there is no voltage supply bet-
9
ween 8V and 16V DC at the contact thermometer jack, the instrument
9
must be run off the H52 power supply kit (H50 twin-jack adapter and H51
10
plug power supply). The instrument will then receive the required volta-
10
ge from the power supply or twin-jack adapter.
10
An automatic self-test is performed when the instrument is activated.
10
During the self-test all the segments of the LCD display are visible
10
(Fig.1). Then the LCD displays illustrated in Fig.2 to Fig.7 appear (stan-
14 / 15
dard factory setting).
System configuration
Before starting to work with the ETS-D4 fuzzy the system configuration
must be set. To do this, hold down the "-" key when switching on.
1. Setting the type of sensor used
The LCD display indicates the set type of sensor, e.g. H 62 (Fig.8).
Accessories see page 7. Use the "+" and "-" keys to set the type
of sensor H 60 ... H 67 you are using. To change the setting, hold
down one of the two keys for approx. 2 seconds. The displayed
sensor is set and stored if no key is pressed for approx. 5
seconds.
2. Setting the extension cable used
The LCD display indicates the set type of extension cable (Fig.9)
in small letters. The setting is made by pressing the "+" and "-"
keys. Possible settings are: H 70, H 71 or — if no extension cable
is used. The displayed extension cable is set and stored if no key
is pressed for approx. 5 seconds.
