Basic remarks

1.1 Purpose of the document
• This operating manual is necessary for the safe and appropriate use of the
appliance, and as such must be read carefully by assembly and mainte-
nance staff before commissioning, and observed in all respects.
• The safety of persons and equipment is dependent on compliance with all
safety rules and regulations. Personnel conducting installation, assembly
and service work on explosion protected plant and equipment must have
precise knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations. Due to their
special position of responsibility these personnel are beholden to study
these rules and regulations.
• Inadmissible or faulty deployment of this equipment and failure to comply
with the instructions contained in this operating manual will result in the
voiding of our warranty.
This manual must be kept ready to hand in an easily accessible place.

Description

The housing of the signal beacon consists of a lower section made from alu-
minium onto which the retention ring with dome are screwed.
The lower section of the housing contains a separate terminal compartment.
The terminal compartment can also be used for feed-through wiring to power
further equipment (same supply voltage).

Function

The appliance was developed as a signalling device for warning in areas with
explosive hazard where flammable gases or dust are present. The device
group II category 2G or 2D permits use in potentially explosive atmospheres of
zones 1/2 or 21/22.
• For category 2G: The beacon housing complies with the type of protection
flameproof enclosure "d" and the terminal compartment with the type of
protection increased-safety enclosure "e".
• For category 2D: The beacon housing and the terminal compartment
comply with the type of protection "tb", protection through housing.
