f) Changing the unit of the thermometer
• Press the °C/°F button (5) or the DOWN button (4) to change the unit of the temperature display.
g) Installation and assembly
• The outdoor sensor can be mounted on the wall through its rear opening using a nail, screw
or hook.
The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in protected outdoor areas. It should be
placed so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight, since this can result in a false
temperature reading. Precipitation falling on the outdoor sensor will also lead to a
false temperature reading, since this cools the housing.
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully, so the out-
door sensor measures the correct temperature.
Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this may destroy it!
• The base station can be set up on a level and stable surface using the fold-out support on the
back. Protect valuable furniture surfaces by using a suitable underlay to prevent scratches.
Extreme value display
• Press the MAX/MIN (6) button briefl y several times to switch between the display of the maxi-
mum values ("MAX" appears in the display, next to the temperature values), the minimum
values ("MIN") and the current readings.
• If you don't press any button for 5 seconds, the current readings reappear in the display.
• To delete the saved maximum and minimum values, hold the MAX/MIN (6) button pressed for
2 seconds.
The current temperature values will be stored as the new minimum and maximum values until
a new change occurs.
Replacing the batteries
a) Base station
• Open the battery compartment (1) of the base station.
• Replace the spent batteries by two new batteries of type AAA/Micro (pay attention to posi-
tive/+ and minus/- when inserting the new batteries). Close the battery compartment (1)
again.
• Once the batteries are inserted, the base station starts searching for the signal of the outdoor
sensor. This takes approx. 3 minutes. Do not press any button during this time and do not
move the base station.
b) Outdoor sensor
• Open the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor (unscrew the lid on the casing's back
side).
• Replace the used-up batteries by two new batteries of type AAA/Micro (pay attention to posi-
tive/+ and minus/- when inserting the new batteries). Close the battery compartment again.
Ensure the correct fi t of the gasket.
• Start a sensor search on the base station. For this purpose, press and hold down the UP
(3) key on the back of the base station for 3 seconds until the symbol for the sensor search
fl ashes and the lower display line only indicates dashes. The search for the outdoor sensor
takes 3 minutes. Do not move the base station and the outdoor sensor during this time.
Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between the outdoor sensor and the base station
is up to 40 m under optimum conditions.
This transmission range data refers to the so-called "free-fi eld range". However, this
ideal arrangement (e.g. base station and outdoor sensor on a plain, even surface
without trees, houses etc.) never exists in practice.
Due to the different infl uences on the radio transmission, no specifi c range can be guaranteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house.
The range can be signifi cantly reduced by proximity to cables, pipes, metal pieces, electronic
devices, and similar. Thick walls, steel construction, laminated insulation glass windows, etc.,
also reduce the range very signifi cantly.
If you notice that the base station does not contain any measured values of the outdoor sensor,
check the condition of the batteries in the outdoor sensor fi rst. Following that, select another
location for the base station and the outdoor sensor. If required, perform a manual search for
the outdoor sensor (as described under replacing the batteries of the outdoor sensor).
Maintenance and Care
Apart from replacing the battery, the device requires no maintenance. Only clean the exterior of
the device with a soft, dry cloth or a brush.
Never use caustic cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as they could damage the surface
of the casing.
Do not press strongly on the sensitive display surfaces.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
Remove the batteries if there are batteries inserted and dispose of them separately
from the product.
Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used bat-
teries/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries contain harmful materials and are labelled with the
symbol shown to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The
symbols of the relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to the of-
fi cial collection points in your municipality, in our stores, or anywhere where batteries
or rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thereby fulfi l the statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
