17. BAROMETRIC PRESSURE
The barometric pressure (referred to as „air pressure") is the pressure
exerted at any point on Earth by the weight of the air column above it. The
air pressure is proportional to the average pressure and gradually decreases
with altitude, Meteorologists use barometers to measure air pressure. As the
weather heavily depends on changes in air pressure, it is possible to create a
weather forecast from the measured changes in air pressure.
