When using safety eyewear, the following must be observed:
• Safety eyewear must be checked for defects such as scratches or cracks prior to use. De-
fects can impair the resistance to impact or lead to blurred visibility.
• Defective safety eyewear must be replaced immediately!
• Only original spare parts may be used for repairs.
• Due to material fatigue, safety eyewear must be replaced after 5 years at the very latest.
• Safety eyewear may only be used for the permitted scope of application (refer to ta-
bles 1-3).
• For the best possible fit, the setting options should be used to ideally adjust the safety
eyewear to the head shape of the person wearing them.
• The impact of high speed particles on safety eyewear and the shock impact on the pre-
scription safety eyewear can result injury.
• Custom-made safety eyewear may not be worn by different users.
• Inadmissible modifications to the safety eyewear are not permitted.
• Safety eyewear should be placed in a storage box/case when not worn.
• Individuals with sensitive skin may react allergically to safety eyewear.
• Safety eyewear must be thoroughly cleaned and checked for any changes to the material
when they come into contact with abrasive materials, solvents and chemicals.
• The protection against acids and alkalis applies at the specific point in time when the li-
quid solutions come into contact with the safety eyewear. It may no longer be used after
being in contact with acids and alkalis.
• Optical class 1 safety eyewear are suitable for long-term work (i.e. a full working day).
• Safety eyewear designated with 'T' may be deployed for higher mechanical loads and ext-
reme temperatures (FT, BT). Safety eyewear not designated with 'T' may only be deployed
at room temperature.
• Colour filters with the protection levels 5-1.1 to 5-3.1 as well as 6-1.1 to 6-3.1 ensure the
detection of signal lights and are approved for road traffic use.
• Colour filters with a tint exceeding 25% are not suitable for working at dusk and during
the night.
• Depending on the intensity of the optical radiation, welder protection filters (1.7-14), UV
protection filters (2C-1.2 to 2-5), IR protection filters (4-6 or 4-7) or sun protection filters
(5-1, 7 to 5-2.5) are deployed.
• Furthermore, chemical, thermal, biological and/or mechanical hazards can occur in dif-
ferent work areas. It must be ensured that the hazard (protection against liquids, coarse
and fine dust, gases or molten metals) relevant safety eyewear are worn. Markings of the
protection classes are stated in Tables 1-3.
