10 Connection and Operation Instructions

1. Principle of contactless cards

The inside of the card consists of an oscillator circuit and
a micro-chip containing the card´s code. The contactless
reader broadcasts a low electromagnetic field, which is in
resonance with the oscillator circuit of the card. The card
now modulates the received frequency with its own bit-
pattern, which is received and evaluated by the reader.

2. Communication

The contactless reader communicates with a PC (COM1/COM2) or another
communication device via an RS-232 interface according to point to point protocol in
accordance to DIN 66019, state: May 1976.

P40118-15-000-XX.
the transmission format is UART/RS 232 C with 1 start bit, 7 data bits,
1 parity bit (even parity), 1 stop bit.
While reading a card, the reader converts the card´s content (40 Bit = 5 Bytes) to ASCII-
digits (1Byte = 2 ASCII-digits) and sends the ASCII-digits to the PC via the RS-232-
interface.

all other: no LED-alteration
The LEDs are contained in "BB". The state of the LED gets sent from the reader to the
PC witch each individual telegram.
Card content (10 digits) get sent from reader to PC

Relay gets controlled by the PC
DIP-Switch position gets transmitted to the PC after each
alteration (test mode)
