Commissioning
To ensure correct commissioning, do not fail to read these operating instructions including the safety instructions thoroughly and
attentively before use
Do not place the active subwoofer in the direct vicinity of TV sets or computer monitors. There is a risk that the magnetic
fields generated by the loudspeakers could distort the picture (LCD / Plasma displays are not affected).
When setting up the active subwoofer, make sure that it is on a stable footing and that you find a correspondingly stable
setup surface. Serious injury to persons can be caused if loudspeakers fall down.
To achieve the best possible sound, try to realise the following suggestions for positioning in the listening room as far as your
possibilities allow:
Set up the subwoofer in such a manner that it is positioned as
far as possible on one line between the satellite loudspeakers.
In right-angled rooms, the loudspeakers should be set up as far
as possible along a short wall.
The active subwoofer should be set up to be as free as possible
(at least 50 cm away from each wall).
Signal connection:
For connecting the LINE IN input, only use suitably shielded RCA connection cables. The use of any other cables may cause
distortion.
To avoid distortion or mismatching which could damage the device, only devices with cinch outputs may be connected to RCA
inputs. For this, observe also the connection data in the manual of the main amplifier / receiver to be connected to. Never use LINE
IN inputs and HIGH LEVEL IN inputs at the same time.
The connecting cables may not be pinched or damage by sharp edges.
Before connectiong the active subwoofer, switch off the subwoofer itself and all other devices which are to be connected and
disconnect the devices from the power supply grid. Proceed similary in altering the circuit.
Connecting Active-Subwoofer using Speaker out terminals
(Pic.1).
Using the HIGH LEVEL IN input the active subwoofer can be
connected to the speaker OUT terminals of the amplifier
together with the satellites.
Connecting Active-Subwoofer using Subwoofer Pre-Out
(Pic. 2).
The active subwoofer can be connected either to a subwoofer
RCA jack of an amplifier using the LINE IN input. Recommended is to use one (right) of the RCA inputs only.
For the first installation the LEVEL control should be adjust to MIN. The CROSSOVER control should be adjust to 180 Hz, the
PHASE switch should be turned to 0 deg.
After connecting the active subwoofer, the main amplifier can be turned on.
Now you can turn the POWER switch to ON .
Then turn the LEVEL control clockwise to the prefered bass volume.
Using CROSSOVER control and PHASE switch the subwoofer can be matched optimal to the satellites / main speakers. If the
crossover frequency should be set by a surround receiver only please turn CROSSOVER control to 180 Hz.
Turning the POWER switch to AUTO, the subwoofer will start together with your sound system.
