Note on application
The detector is suitable for use in local security net-
works (LSN) and can be operated as a two-wire ele-
ment.
Notes on installation
Use shielded cable to connect the detector.
The detector reacts most sensitively to movement
which proceed at right angles to the coverage zones
(the direction of the arrow in figures 1 and 2).
The detector's coverage area is limited by any solid
objects.
The detector is designed to achieve optimal response
sensitivity and a high level of false alarm suppression.
Nevertheless, you are recommended to take note of
the following points (see figure 8):
– Do not direct the zones at sources of heat or cold,
nor at points subject to strong sunlight.
– Direct the zones towards uniform references.
Zones which are directed towards heaters (includ-
ing floor heating equipment) can reduce the proba-
bility of detection of movement.
– If it is impossible to avoid positioning the detector
above heaters, you must keep them at a minimum
distance of 1.50m away!
Do not remove the printed circuit board from the
detector. There is a danger that it may be dam-
aged!
Installation
1. Open the detector (figure 3).
2. Mount the detector on a stable vertical surface in-
doors.
– Select the height (h) above the floor according to
figure 1 or 2.
– Corner mounting and 45° installation (right / left)
are possible without any accessories (see figure
4A).
– Detector must be inclined at an angle of 3° when
mounting above 3m in order to detect crawling in-
truders and to ensure the detection range (see fig-
ure 4B).
– The cable is introduced through one of the two
knock-out points A (see figure 5).
3. Wire the connections as shown in figure 6.
4. For strain relief on the connection cable, pierce the
lug B (figure 5) and fix the cable with a cable cleat.
5. Replace the cover, screw it down (if required) with
the screw provided, and close the screw cover (fig-
ure 3).
6. If regulations specify that the detector must be lead
sealed, an anti-tamper seal is placed over the gap
between the base and the upper section (figure 3).
Parameterization
The detector is parameterized using the corresponding
LSN control unit parameterization software. Detection
sensitivity can be set according to the following table.

Setting notes
If the longest wall in the room is less than 5m, do not use
the «High values» sensitivity setting!
IR200LSN/RB Instructions for use
Displays
The detector only has a walk test display which, when
the walk test is activated, flashes for about 3 seconds
every time an alarm is activated.
Note
The detector has no alarm memory indicator. This is not
required due to the individual detector identification by
the LSN control unit.
Commissioning
1. After commissioning the detector linked to the LSN,
wait for at least 1 minute until the detector is ready for
operation.
2. Activate the walk test in order to test the coverage
area.
3. Cross the area monitored in an upright position at
about 1 step per second in the direction of the arrow
(fig. 1 or 2) and stand still. Alarm evaluation (display)
can take up to 3 seconds!
Upon alarm display, wait until the LED has extin-
guished again. Only then repeat this procedure
throughout the entire coverage area.
The detector must trigger an alarm even when you
cross the zones at the edge of the coverage area.
Troubleshooting
Detector does not react
– Check LSN voltage and polarity.
– Check whether the mirror is inserted.
Permanent or temporary alarm
– Track down any sources of alarm in the coverage
area, remove sources of alarm.
– Check evaluation mode.
– Change the position of the detector.
Insufficient range
– Check the mounting height and inclination of the de-
tector (figures 1 or 2).
– Walk at right angles to the coverage area!
– Check the IR window for dirt.
Options
Curtain mirror IRS162
The IRS162 curtain mirror has overlapping coverage
zones to form a monitored area which is protected
against persons walking through it (figure 2).
Changing the mirror (see figure 7):
Remove the wide-angle mirror from the cover with the
help of a No. 1 flat plated screwdriver, and replace it with
a IRS162 curtain mirror (stamped "C").
Check the mirror for dirt and damage, and do not
touch the pyrosensor!
Mounting bracket IRUM2, IRUM3
The IRUM2 (wall mounting) or the IRUM3 (ceiling
mounting) can be used to swivel the detector by ±45°
and to incline it by +10°/–15°.
Depending on the local circumstances and the ad-
justment of the mounting brackets, the monitored
zone may vary as compared with the information shown
in figures 1 or 2.
