Requirements for safe operation

The following requirements for safe operation has to be assured by the user, according to European
regulations DIN EN 60875 and additional papers for laser entertainment safety. These regulations may vary
in other countries. Before operating the laser device, the user has to make sure, that the local regulations are
fulfilled.
If one or more of the following requirements is not assured, a local laser safety officer must be informed and
commissioned to check a safe operation.
Minimum viewing distance between moving head and audience must be 4m, measured from the output of the
laser unit to the first possible audience watching point. The user has to ensure, that no person is able to access
this laser safety area between projector and audience.
The projector has to be mounted above the audience at a minimum height of 2.80m, measured from the
bottom of the audience floor to the lowest point of the laser output window. A mounting height of 3m or
more is recommended. A greater height installation will also increase the astonishing laser effect impression.
During laser operation, the operation must be in visual contact with the laser at any time to ensure correct and
safe operation of the laser device. It is recommended to route the power line via a visible kill switch and/or
key switch to avoid any operation of the laser units and moving heads of unauthorized persons. Further, this
kill switch can be used in any case of unexpected defects or unsafe conditions to shut down laser
immediately.
All laser projectors must be mounted safely and secure with metal bolts or screws and additionally must be
secured by a safety cable, as widely used in the entertainment business. The unit should not detach from its
mounting point during operation at any time.
