Operation Manual
SpookyBlue is the new standard in DMX controlled lasers. For the first time in this price range, SpookyBlue
offers a complete, professional solution in laser entertainment, with full variance according to European DIN
EN safety standards for output power up to 10mW. Please find the safety documentation for Spooky Blue
Laser projectors up to 10mW enclosed.
The integrated solid state lasers offer a high brightness relation, even at usual disco ambient light. The well-
designed housing contains latest micro technology, combined with new developed semi closed loop scanners,
512kB of flash memory and two fast microprocessors. A frequency triggered safety control device
permanently measures the movement of the galvos, to avoid any unsafe conditions, and shuts off the laser
immediately, if danger occurs.
Features:
- 255 fixed and moving laser animations and sequences
- 2 DMX channels for control of 16x16 memory locations
- Bright solid state lasers from 5 to 30mW at 532nm green or 635nm red
- Frequency triggered scan failure detection with laser shut down at unsafe condition
- Full blanking function between objects
- Multi-voltage power supply for any power source on earth

Scope of supply

Each SpookyBlue is delivered "ready to go", you just need a standard DMX source for choosing the 255
animation sequences. Your package therefore contains the projector, a multi-voltage power supply unit, this
manual and an additional tape for fixing the power supply on your rigging.

First run

The SpookyBlue contains a switch-on automatic. The power supply can be connected at any time. After
powering up, the delay switches the unit on after about 10 seconds, and activates the DMX polling. The
Laser show can start now. If the projector does not start, unplug the 90-230VAC connector on the power
supply, wait for at least 30 seconds and re-connect again.
The unit can be mounted on rigging using a C-mount bracket. Additionally, a safety rope is recommended.
Change DMX starting address
Due to its auto-scan mode, the SpookyBlue can be switched to every DMX address between 1 and 511 at any
time, even if the unit is switched On. Setting is done via 9 DIP switches on the back of the unit, counted
binary. The selected address sets the first control channel, the next address is the second control channel. If
you want to chose DMX channel 150 as starting channel, you have to set switch 8,5,3 and 2 to ON. (Binary
8= 128, binary 5= 16, binary 3= 4, binary 2= 2, 128+16+4+2=150)
Choosing animation sequences
If both, DMX controller and SpookyBlue, are set to the same starting channel, the first two control channels
are selected to choosing a sequence out of the 16x16 table. Since every DMX channel has 8bits (255 value), a
table jump is done at every value of 16. Therefore, 0-15 on your controller means 0 on the Spooky, 16-31
means 1 and so on. If both channel settings are below 16 (0 for Spooky), there is no laser output. If the
settings value is shown in percent on your controller display, around 6% means 1 for Spooky. After changing
the channel value on your controller, Spooky changes output immediately in Realtime.
