Protection of yourself and others
¾ Do not let children or persons who have not
read these usage instructions use the device.
¾ Do not permit children under the age of 16 to
handle this power tool or perform other work
on the device, such as maintenance, cleaning,
adjustment, etc. Local regulations may deter-
mine the minimum age for users.
¾ Persons operating the device must not be un-
der the influence of intoxicants (e.g. alcohol,
drugs or medication).
¾ Do not use the device if you have not received
appropriate training or are tired or ill.
¾ Be careful and do not reach into the cutting
tool area.
¾ Remember that the operator is responsible
for accidents to other persons or for damage
to their property.
¾ This device may be used by persons with lim-
ited physical, sensory and mental abilities or
a lack of experience and knowledge if they are
being supervised or have been trained in how
to use the device safely and they understand
the dangers associated with it.
¾ Do not operate the device if there are people
(especially children) or animals in immediate
proximity.
¾ Only turn the engine on if your feet are at a
safe distance from the cutting tool (mower
blade).
¾ Ensure children do not play with the device.
¾ Stop mowing if you notice that persons (espe-
cially children) or animals are nearby.
¾ Never mow barefoot or wearing only sandals.
¾ Always wear non-skid shoes and long trou-
sers as well as other appropriate personal
protective equipment (safety glasses, ear
defenders, safety gloves etc.) when working
with the device. The wearing of personal pro-
tective equipment minimises the risk of injury. Do
not wear loose clothing or clothing with hanging
cords or belts. Working without ear protection
may result in loss of hearing.
¾ Be careful and do not reach into the area of
the rotating cutter.

Before use
¾ Before you begin work, make sure that you
are familiar with the device, its controls and
how to operate it.
¾ Check whether all fixing elements (nuts, bolts
and screws, etc.) are tightly fitted to ensure
that the device is operated safely.
¾ Only operate the device in a technically
faultless state. Never change the preset factory
engine settings. Damage must be repaired by a
qualified technician or service centre.
¾ Before use and after an impact check the
mower for signs of wear or damage. Damage

¾ Remove the adjustment tool or wrench before
switching on the device. A tool located in the
rotating cutting tools area may lead to injuries.
¾ Never use a device with damaged or missing
guards. They must be repaired or replaced by a
qualified expert or workshop.

vices, and do not remove them. The protective
equipment forms part of the device.
¾ Never use the device with defective or dam-
aged safety equipment. Safety equipment is
designed for your protection and must always be
in functioning order. You must never make any
modifications to safety equipment or bypass their
functions.
¾ Check whether the deflector flap closes
correctly.
¾ Check the grass catcher for damage and cor-
rect mounting.
¾ Before mowing, make sure that the lawn is
free from branches, stones, wire etc. and look
out for such objects the whole time when
mowing. Items may be seized and flung out.
¾ Check (by means of visual inspection) wheth-
er the cutting tools and their fixings are blunt,
damaged or deformed.
