4 Safety Precautions
– The user is an adult or is being trained
in an occupation under supervision
according to national regulations.
– The user has received instruction from a
STIHL authorized dealer or a competent
person before using the power station
for the first time.
– The user is not under the influence of
alcohol, medication or drugs.
► If you are unsure: Contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.
4.4 Working area and surroundings
WARNING
■ Bystanders, children and animals are unable
to recognize and assess the dangers of the
power station. Bystanders, children and ani‐
mals may be seriously injured.
► Keep bystanders, children and animals
away from the work area.
► Make sure children cannot play with the
power station.
■ The power station is not protected against all
environmental influences. If the power station
is exposed to certain environmental influences
it may catch fire, explode, or be irreparably
damaged. This may result in serious injury to
people and damage to property.
► Protect the power station against
heat and fire.
► Do not throw the power station into a
fire.
► Do not charge, use or store the power sta‐
tion outside the specified temperature lim‐
its, 15.3.
► Do not immerse the power station in
liquid.
► Do not expose the power station to high
pressure.
► Do not expose the power station to micro‐
waves.
► Protect power station against chemicals
and salts.
► Do not operate the power station in an
easily combustible or explosive environ‐
ment.
► Do not operate the power station on an
easily combustible surface.
► If the power station needs to be used on a
working platform or a safe scaffold: Use the
fall protection device to secure the power
station against falling.

■ If the power station is used as a work surface,
the power station may be damaged. People
may be injured or property may be damaged.
► Do not use the power station as a work sur‐
face.
4.5 Safe operating condition
The power station is in safety-compliant condi‐
tion if the following conditions are met:
– The power station is undamaged.
– The power station is clean and dry.
– The power station functions and has not been
modified.
– The fall protection is undamaged and has not
been modified.
– The power station is equipped with original
STIHL accessories intended for this device.
– The accessories are correctly installed.
WARNING
■ In non-safety-compliant condition, the power
station can no longer function safely. People
may suffer serious injuries as a result.
► Work with an undamaged and functioning
power station.
► Do not charge a damaged or defective
power station.
► If the power station is dirty or wet: Clean the
power station and allow to dry.
► Do not modify the power station.
► Do not insert objects into the openings of
the power station.
► Do not bridge or short-circuit the contacts of
the power station with metallic objects.
► Do not open the cover of the power station.
► Use original STIHL accessories for this
power station.
► Install accessories as described in this User
Manual or in the User Manual for the acces‐
sories.
► Replace worn or damaged warning signs.
■ Liquid may leak from a damaged power sta‐
tion. If that liquid comes into contact with the
skin or eyes, the skin or eyes may be irritated.
► Avoid contact with the liquid.
► If skin contact occurs: Wash affected areas
of skin with plenty of water and soap.
► In the event of contact with eyes: Rinse
eyes with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes and consult a doctor.
■ A damaged or defective power station may
emit an unusual smell or smoke or may burn.
Persons may be seriously or fatally injured,
and property may be damaged.
