On / Off Switch
• The appliance is switched off in the O position.
• If the on/off switch is in position I, the appliance is ready
for operation. Depending on the position of the function
switch, the green control lamp (WARM) or the red control
lamp (COOK) will light up.
- A safety mechanism prevents the cooking process
from starting if the rice pot is not inserted correctly.
Function Switch
• If the function switch is in the up position, the appliance
is in the "keep warm" operating mode. The control lamp
WARM lights up green.
• You can switch to "cooking" mode with the function
switch. This is only possible if the rice pot is inserted cor-
rectly and the switch contact (in the centre of the heating
plate) is closed. The control lamp COOK lights up red.
Cooking Time
Once the water in the rice pot has completely evaporated,
the appliance automatically switches to the "keep warm"
position and thus ends the cooking process. The control
lamp WARM lights up green.
End Operation
Observe the following steps:
1. Check whether the WARM control lamp is lit. If neces-
sary, move the function switch upwards.
2. Set the on / off switch to position O.
3. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.

Putting into Operation

1. Make sure that the on / off switch is in position O and the
function switch is set to "Keep warm".
2. Insert the plug of the connecting cable into the appliance
first.
Electrical Connection
1. Check that the mains voltage you wish to use matches
that of the appliance. You will find the relevant informa-
tion on the rating plate on the appliance.
2. Connect the appliance to a properly installed earthed
socket.

Operation

The appliance is not only suitable for cooking rice, but also
for steaming.
Cooking Rice
Please follow the manufacturer's preparation instructions
before cooking rice, e.g. wash the rice beforehand or soak it
in the case of spring rice.
1. Open the lid.
2. Place the rice pot in the rice cooker.
3. Determine the desired amount of rice from 2 to 10 CUPs
with the measuring cup and pour this amount into the
rice pot.
4. Fill the rice pot with water until the corresponding gradu-
ation mark on the CUP scale is reached.
5. Close the lid.
6. Establish the electrical connection as described under
"Putting into Operation". Switch the appliance on using
the on / off switch (I). The control lamp WARM lights up
green.
7. Press the function switch down. The control lamp WARM
goes out and the control lamp COOK comes on.
8. Once the water in the rice pot has completely evapo-
rated, the appliance automatically switches to "keep
warm" mode and thus ends the cooking process. The
control lamp COOK goes out and the control lamp
WARM comes on.
- Tip: Leave the rice to cook for a further 5 minutes
before removing it from the pan.
9. Open the lid carefully.
WARNING:
Hot steam will escape. There is a risk of burns!
Steaming
Steaming is the gentle cooking of food using hot steam.
This preserves more valuable nutrients in the food than
other cooking methods. Please use the steamer insert for
this purpose.
1. Open the lid.
2. Place the rice pot in the rice cooker.
3. Pour the minimum amount of water into the rice pot
according to the following table.
4. Insert the steamer insert into the rice pot.
5. Place your food in the steamer insert and close the lid.
6. Establish the electrical connection as described under
"Putting into Operation". Switch the appliance on using
the on / off switch (I). The control lamp WARM lights up
green.
7. Press the function switch down. The control lamp
WARM goes out and the control lamp COOK comes on.
8. Check the cooking status occasionally.
