Please read the instruction manual carefully and keep all operating and maintenance ma-
nuals. To guarantee the best-possible protection, comfort and functionality of the PROTOS®

USER INFORMATIONS
1. Intended use and important information
This product is designed to reduce the harmful effects of noise. The hearing pro-
tector should always be worn in noisy areas and should be installed, adjusted and
serviced regularly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. If these
recommendations are not followed, the protective effect of the hearing protector
will be seriously impaired, which can lead to life-threatening injuries or harmful
consequences! In addition, we would like to point out that even a short period of
non-use of the hearing protector can lead to hearing damage. The user himself
must determine the suitability of the product for the expected noise exposure.
No hearing protector can provide absolute protection against hearing damage.
Hearing protectors according to EN 352-1 and EN 352-3 are available in small, medium and
large sizes. Medium-size earmuff hearing protectors fit the majority of users. Earmuff hea-
ring protectors of the sizes „small" or „large" are intended for users for whom the medium
size range is not suitable.
WARNING
•
When the hearing protector is worn, greater attentiveness and caution is required
because the perception of noises heralding danger (screams, signal tones, etc.) is
hampered.
•
Covering the sealing pads with hygienic covers as well as hats, hair, earrings, etc. can
impair the acoustic performance of the hearing protector.
•
Also spectacle earpieces can cause impairment of the sound insulation. Use original
PROTOS® safety glasses, therefore, in combination with the spectacles clip of the
PROTOS® headset (also for optical spectacle inserts).
EN
•
Too forceful stretching of the headband can lead to a reduction of the contact
pressure and thus reduce the sound insulation.
•
This hearing protection is not antistatic and should not, therefore, be used in
a potentially explosive environment.
•
In sensitive users, materials that are in constant contact with the wearer's skin
(e. g. padding) can cause allergic reactions.
•
Only original PROTOS® spare parts are permitted and standard-compliant.
2. Maintenance
Earmuff hearing protectors, and especially the sealing pads including sound insulation
inserts, can become worn with use and should, therefore, frequently be checked for signs
of cracking, hardening and/or leaks and replaced if necessary. We generally recommend
replacing them every 6 – 12 months. The bracket itself should be replaced after max. 5 years
from the date of production. Only use original PROTOS® spare parts. The sealing pads should
be used for a maximum of 12 months. The earmuffs have a shelf life of 10 years from the
date of production.
Please refer to the production date
2.1 Replace the sound insulation insert and the padding
a)
Firmly hold the earmuff of the hearing protector in your hand and hook your index
and middle finger under the side of the padding. It can be removed by pulling firmly.
on the packaging.
b) When replacing the sound insu-
lation insert, make sure that it is
correctly inserted.
The wavy line inside the capsule
is intended as an aid (see figu-
re). The same wavy line is also
incorporated in the sound insu-
lation insert. Insert the sound
insulation insert in the earmuff
in such a way that the wavy
lines lie over one another –
the waves must be congruent.
c) The last step is to press the
padding onto the earmuffs
so that the capsule can be
engaged all round.
