6. Connection

6-1. DC12V Input Terminal

I) Be sure to switch off this unit and the external power supply unit, before you will connect and
disconnect the power cable.
2) Cable Specification (Peel off the cover from the 10-rnrn cable end.)
Solid
wire
: øo.4 -øl.o
(AWG26- 18)
Flexible wire : o.3rrr*
- 0.75mm2 (AWG22 - 20)
3) Hold down tie
part of the terrninal block with a srnall bladed screwdriver or the like. Insert
the wire into he comecting hole. Do the same for pulling out the wire. A solid wire with its conduc-
tor diameter of 0.8 - 1.Omm can be connected simply by inserting it in the hole.
NOTES: a) Be careful not to confuse the + and - terminals. The Lnit does not work if wrongly
wired.
b) Keep the DC input voltage in tie 10.5 - 15V range.
c) Use the specified wires. Too thick or thin wires cannot be properly connected.
4) Finally pull the wires gently to see if tiey do not come off.

7. Operation

7-1. Power
1)
When the wiring is finished, tum the power switch ON.
When everythig is 0K, the indicator light up.
If the indicatordoes not light up, or starts blinking, check the following points.
2)
If the indicator does not light up, the power is not supplied.
a) Check the power supply unit.
b) Check the power cable and the DC12V input terminal.
3)
If the indicator is blinking (at intervals of about 0.25 sec), a communication error happens be-
tween a camera
a) See if the power of a camera is on.
b) Check the coaxial cable from tie camera.
(connection point, connector edge, cable breakage, etc.)
c) Check the setting of CABLE COMP switch.

7-2. Communication

(For details, refer to the Protocol Specification.)

I) Set the control unit (PC, etc.) subject to the condition of the RSU-871.
In case of any control trouble, check the following points.
2) In case of no response from the RSU-871.
a) Check the setting of the communicationcondition (baud rate, bit number, etc.) of the control
Camera
unit (PC, etc.)
ICD-870/lCD-703
b) Check the RS-232Ccable. (Disconnection, wrong connectionof the pins)
3)
In case of only NAK (15H) response from the RSU-871.
a) Check the text of
All comrnandsmust be written in small Englishcharacters(a, b, c, - • x)
Any parameterwhich exceedsits capacity will be ignored.
b) Check the BCC (block check characters) calculation method of the command.
Power
The command charactersof BCC calculationare from ETX to XOR (STX not included).
Supply
c) If there is an AC powercable near the RS-232Ccable, it mightcause some noise.
In tiis case, keep the RS-232Ccable apart from other cables. Under the noisycircumstance,
the baud rate of 4800bps may alleviate the noise problem.
4) In case of only DC4 (14H) response from the RSU-871.
a) See if the indicator is blinking (every 0.25 sec) or not.
If so, there is a communication
5)
In case of ACK responsefrom the RSU-871 , but impossibleto changethe camera setting.
a) Check the setting data Ofthe camera and RSU-871.
Normally the RSU-871identifies the camera automatically. No camera setting command is
necessary.
If the camerasetting command is wrong, it is impossibleto change the camera setting.
b) It is impossible to use the RSU.871 with the ICD-700.
