Operation
1.1 Remarks
The AutoMaXX may only be put into use when it is
connected to a respiratory protective mask.
Before use, as well as in case of unintended air dis-
charge the AutoMaXX should be switched off with
the red operating button.
After each use the AutoMaXX should be disinfected
and cleaned (see 2.3).
1.2 Connecting to Medium Pressure
• Push plug nipple of AutoMaXX into coupling of medium
pressure line of pressure reducer until it catches posi-
tively
1.3 Connecting to Mask
• Don respiratory protective mask and check facepiece-
to-face fit (see Instructions for Use of mask)
• Open cylinder valve of compressed air cylinder
The AutoMaXX should be screwed into the mask
and checked by a second person.
• Screw handwheel of AutoMaXX hand-tight into mask
connector
1.4 Switching On
• Take one deep breath and the AutoMaXX is switched
on
• Alternatively, push the flushing button
1.5 Switching Off
• Push red operating button until stop
1.6 Disconnecting from Mask
• Unscrew handwheel from mask connector
1.7 Disonnecting from Medium Pressure
• Firmly push plug nipple of AutoMaXX into coupling of
medium pressure line of pressure reducer, pulling back
the coupling sleeve at the same time
1.8 Supplementary Function Flushing
• Push flushing button in small doses to flush smoke or
gas out of the mask
Use of the flushing button increases the com-
pressed air consumption.
The AutoMaXX described in these Instructions for Use is
approved for use in the MSA mask series 3S and Ultra
Elite.

2.2 Remarks
Maintenance work should only be performed by
trained personnel.
Do not use organic solvents such as nitro dilution,
alcohol, spirit, petrol, etc.
2.3 Cleaning / Disinfection
• Switch off AutoMaXX
• Fit closing cap (see Ordering Information) onto plug nip-
ple of medium pressure line or push plug nipple of
AutoMaXX into medium pressure mode
Liquid should not be allowed to come over the me-
dium pressure line into AutoMaXX
Pre-Cleaning
• Clean AutoMaXX externally, paying attention that no dirt
gets into the inside
Cleaning
• Clean AutoMaXX in the washbasin and rinse with plenty
of water
Disinfection
• Use disinfection medium (see Ordering Information) ac-
cording to the instructions for use
• Rinse AutoMaXX from disinfection medium with plenty
of water
After Cleaning/Disinfection
• Switch off AutoMaXX and plug into medium pressure
connection
• Depress flushing button for 20 seconds and completely
blow the humidity out of the inside of the AutoMaXX
• Disconnect AutoMaXX from medium pressure connec-
tion, depress flushing button and completely dry Auto-
MaXX in drying cabinet at a maximum of 60°C
2.4 Diaphragm Check/Replacement
Disassembly
• Disconnect AutoMaXX from medium pressure line of
pressure reducer
• Turn handwheel so far until the silver clip below the
black operating button is visible through the handwheel
opening
• Press silver clip, e.g. with a screwdriver, pressing both
operating buttons at the same time and pull off hand-
wheel
• Push clip again, while pushing both operating buttons at
the same time with one hand
• Push both catch hooks of housing together with the
other hand and push off the cap
• Unbutton diaphragm from diaphragm groove of housing
