Capacitance measurement
Turn the knob switch (6) to the
The measurement results will appear on the LCD display (10).
MK40:
• OFF – off position;
• 600A – AC/DC measurement (within a specified range), with LPF (low-pass filter);
• 6/60A – AC/DC measurement (within a specified range), with LPF;
• V – AC/DC voltage measurement, with LPF;
• Hz% – frequency and duty cycle measurement;
•
– diode test, capacitance measurement, continuity test, and resistance measurement;
• °C/°F – temperature measurement;
• LowZ – low impedance AC/DC voltage measurement.
Press the Z/F button (7) to reset display to zero (for DC measurement mode only) or to switch between the functions. When the device is off,
press and hold (7) for 3 seconds to enable/disable the auto-off option, and then observe the corresponding symbol on the screen. When the
auto-off option is enabled, the device will automatically turn off in 15 minutes.
Press the MAX/MIN button (8) to switch between the maximum and minimum values. Press and hold (8) for 3 seconds to exit this function.
Press the Backlight/Flashlight button (9) to turn the backlight on/off. The backlight will automatically turn off in 20 seconds. Press and hold
(9) for 3 seconds to turn the flashlight (3) on/off.
Press the HOLD/NCV button (5) to hold the display readings (H appears on the screen). Press and hold (5) for 3 seconds to turn the NCV on
or off.
AC/DC measurement (with LPF function)
Turn the knob switch (6) to the 600A / 6/60A
(7) until AC or DC appears on the screen. Press the trigger (4) to open the clamps (2) and fully enclose the conductor to be measured. Then
slowly release the trigger (4). In order to ensure the measurement accuracy, the measured conductor must be placed in the center of the
clamps. When measuring the DC, press and hold (7) for 3 seconds to set the remaining magnetization to zero. The device will beep and
ZERO will appear on the screen. When measuring the AC, press (7) to view the measured frequency or measurement results using LPF
function. The measurement results will appear on the LCD display (10).
!
If the measurement result is >3A, the orange backlight will turn on.
For the following measurements using test leads, turn the knob switch (6) to the appropriate position. Plug the black test lead into the COM
jack (12) and the red test lead into the INPUT jack (13).
AC/DC voltage measurement (with LPF function)
Turn the knob switch (6) to the V position. Press (7) until AC or DC appears on the screen. Connect the probes to the measuring points.
When measuring the AC, press (7) to view the measured frequency or measurement results using LPF function. The measurement results
will appear on the LCD screen (10).
!
If the measurement result >80V, the orange backlight will turn on.
Turn the knob switch (6) to the LowZ position for low impedance AC/DC voltage measurement. Press (7) to switch between AC and DC.
Frequency and duty cycle measurement
Turn the knob switch (6) to the Hz% position. Press (7) to switch between the frequency and duty measurement function. Connect the
probes to the measuring points or in parallel to the circuit to be measured. The measurement results will appear on the LCD screen (10).
Diode test
Turn the knob switch (6) to the
and the black test probe to the cathode side of the diode to be measured. The measurement results will appear on the LCD screen (10).
!
If the polarity of the test probes is reverse to the diode polarity, the OL (Overload) will appear on the screen. This can be used for
distinguishing the anode and cathode side of a diode.
Capacitance measurement
Turn the knob switch (6) to the
The measurement results will appear on the LCD screen (10).
Continuity test
Turn the knob switch (6) to the
to be tested. The measurement results will appear on the LCD screen (10).
!
If the resistance is <30Ω, an acoustic signal will be emitted and the orange backlight will turn on.
Resistance measurement
Turn the knob switch (6) to the
points of circuit or resistor. The measurement results will appear on the LCD screen (10).
