5. SETTING INTO OPERATION

1. Switch on the meter via the ON/OFF button.
2. An indication is displayed. If not, either connect an AC adapter to the 6V DC input socket or insert a
battery. If the display indicates the battery symbol, the battery is exhausted and must be replaced.
3. For mounting the SLM-500 on a stand, the threaded jack (6.3 mm/1/4") can be used.
4. Always switch off the unit after operation to extend battery life. If the device will not be used for a longer
period of time, remove the battery in order to avoid battery leakage.

5.1 Inserting/Replacing the battery

If the SLM-500 is not used for a longer period (approx. 1-2 weeks), please remove the battery to prevent
damage in case of battery leakage.
■ Remove the compartment cover. When replacing discharged a battery, remove the old battery from the
battery compartment.
