Power Supply
Mains Operation
Mains voltage 220 +10%, 50/60 Hz (GB: 240V, 50 Hz).
Connect the mains lead to socket @. This will automatically dis-
connect any batteries in the recorder.
The recorder can only be completely isolated from the mains sup-
ply by unplugging it from the wall socket.
Additional Information for Sets Sold in Great Britian
Products for sale in GB are suitable for operation from a 240 V AC
mains supply. We recommend that a13 A 3-pin plug fitted with a3 -
5 A fuse be used. The brown lead must be connected to the live pin
(marked "L" or "brown" or "red") and the blue lead to the neutral
pin (marked "N" or 'blue" or "black").On no account should either
wire be connected to the earth pin (marked "E" or 'green/yellow").
lf other mains plugs are used ensure that they are protected by a3 -
5A fuse.
Battery Operation
Insert 6 IEC R 20 (HP 2) batteries or equivalent the right way round
(follow the symbols in the battery compartment). Only use alkaline
manganese batteries made by Daimon, DURACELL, Philips, UCAR
or Varta. Batteries, even if new, should be removed ifthe recorder is
not in use for long periods, or if it is permanently operated from the
mains.
No responsibility can be accepted for damage due to leaking bat-
teries.
Switching On and Off
a) Radio

Set RADIO-CASS switch (8) to CASS position.
Pressing one of the tape function buttons @, @), @@ or the record
button @) switches the recorder on.
Pressing the STOP/CASS button @) switches the recorder off.
Radio Operation

To receive VHF (FM) stations, pull out the telescopic aerial @
to its full extent, then tilt and rotate for optimum reception.

Forshortwave reception the telescopic aerial @) should be ver-
tical.

There is a built-in ferrite rod aerial for mediumwave and long-
wave reception. The best position for receiving a station should
be found by rotating the set around its vertical axis.
Waveband Selection
Use switch @.
Tuning
Use tuning control @.
Stereo Radio Reception
With switch © set to STEREO or SUPER-STEREO, the FM stereo
indicator® will light up if the broadcast is in stereo. If stereo recep-
tion is noisy, set switch © to MONO.
Cassette Operation
Inserting the Cassette

Press STOP/CASS button @ to open cassette compartment (2).

Insert cassette in the guides in the lid with the full spool on the
left and the open edge of the cassette downwards.

Close cassette compartment @2 by hand.
Playback of Cassettes

Set RADIO-CASS switch ® to CASS.

Press START button @.

Tointerrupt playback
for a short period press PAUSE button@ ;
restart by pressing this button a second time.

Stop playback by pressing STOP/CASS button @0.

Toremove the cassette press STOP/CASS button @ a second
time.

Playback through an Amplifier and Copying with a Second
Tape/Cassette Recorder (only from Built-in Cassette Section)

Set RADIO-CASS switch © to CASS.

Connect amplifier or a second tape/cassette recorder to the
universal socket @3) (see Fig. on p. 2; for connecting cable and
adapter plug to be used, see section entitled "Accessories").

Fast-Wind Buttons
Press button (8) ¢4€ to rewind the tape rapidly.
Press button @ >» to wind the tape forward rapidly.
Stop by pressing the STOP-CASS buitton @.
Cueing and Review Operation
Press one of the fast-wind buttons (9), 49) lightly (do not press fully
in) during playback. This increases the tape speed and allows you
to listen to the recording speeded up so that you can find a particu-
lar point in it.

START button G7) and rewind button 48) pressed = Review.
Automatic End-of-Tape Stop
When the end of the tape is reached with the tape functions start,
fast rewind and fast forward wind selected, the tape stops auto-
matically and the tape function buttons are released.
