OPERATION
Adding bar and chain lubricant
The chainsaw comes with no bar and chain oil added, to
do so:
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Carefully pour the bar
and chain oil into the
tank.
3. Wipe off excess oil.
4. Fill the oil tank until the
quick view oil indicator
reaches the minimum
line.
NOTE! There is foam inserted inside the oil reservoir to
catch the dirt and debris from the oil pump. DO NOT re-
move the foam.
NOTE! It is normal for oil to seep from the saw when not in
use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank after each use
then run for one minute.
Switching On/Off
• To turn it on, depress the lock-off button and pull the
trigger switch.
• Press and hold the
switch trigger, release
the switch lock and
continue to squeeze
the switch trigger for
continued operation.
• To turn it off, release the trigger switch, the switch
lock will be automatically reset to the lock position.
NOTE! If the chain saw makes a rapid beeping sound when
attempting to start the saw, the chain brake is engaged. To
start it, follow instructions above from the beginning.
Operating the chain brake
This tool is equipped with a chain brake (or front hand
guard) to stop the chain if you get a kickback:
• Rotate your left hand around the front handle and
push the chain brake toward the bar while the chain is
rotating rapidly to stop it.
• Reset the chain brake back to its original position
by grasping the top of the chain brake and pulling it
upwards toward the front handle.
Proper procedure for tree felling
Felling a tree
1. The felling operation should be separated from the
bucking operation by a distance of at least twice the
height of the tree being felled.
2. Operator should keep on the uphill side of the terrain
as the tree is likely to roll or slide after it is felled.
3. An escape path should be planned before cutting.
Notching undercut
1. Make the notch 1/3 the diameter of the tree, perpendi-
cular to the direction of falls. Make the lower horizontal
notching cut first.
Felling Back cut
1. Make the felling back cut at least 50 mm higher than
the horizontal notching cut. Keep the felling back cut
parallel to the horizontal notching cut, there should be
enough wood left to act as a hinge.
2. As the felling gets close to the hinge, the tree should
begin to fall.
3. As tree starts to fall, stop the chain saw and put it
down immediately.
4. On large diameter trees, stop the back cut before it is
deep enough for the tree to fall. Then insert soft woo-
den or plastic wedges into the cut so they do not touch
the chain.
Log bucking
To cut a log into lengths:
1. When the log is supported along its entire length, it is
cut from the top (over buck).
2. When the log is supported on one end, cut 1/3 the
diameter from the underside (under buck). Then make
the finished cut by over bucking to meet the first cut.
3. When the log is supported on both ends, cut 1/3 the
diameter from the top (over buck). Then make the fi-
nished cut by under bucking the lower 2/3 to meet the
first cut.
Cutting trees and branches that are in tension
NOTE! Never cut straight through a tree or branch that is
in tension.
1. Position yourself so that you will be clear of the tree or
branch when the tension is released.
2. Make as many cuts of sufficient depth as necessary at
or near the point of maximum tension to reduce it and
make the tree or branch break at this point.
3. Continue to cut deeper until tree or branch bends and
tension is released.
4. Cut the tree or branch from outside the bend.
