INSTRUCTION MANUAL
PRODUCT'S PRESENTATION
This tool for forest service has been designed to perform
wood-cutting tasks such as tree felling, limbing, bucking
and cutting.
It is equipped with a knob to adjust the guide bar and chain
tension, a chain brake to stop the chain if you get a kick-
back, and a chain catcher to catch it if it snaps or jumps
off. Besides, it features an automatic system for chain lu-
brication and a trigger switch lock-off button to avoid an
accidental starting of the tool. It also includes bar guide,
a chain and a cover to protect both the bar and chain for
storage and transportation.
SAFETY INSTRUCTRIONS
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instruc-
tions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions listed
below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
• Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and
any other conditions that may affect its operation.
• Do not operate the tool in the presence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust.
• Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry
and tighten long hair.
• Avoid an accidental starting. Disconnect the battery
from the tool and place the switch in the locked or off
position before making any adjustments, changing ac-
cessories, or storing the tool.
• Keep the tool and its handle dry, clean and free from
oil and grease.
• Always wear eye and respiratory protection.
• Hold the tool by the insulated grip surface when per-
forming an operation where the tool may come in con-
tact with the hidden wiring. Contact with a "live" wire
will make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and
shock the operator.
• Make sure all keys and adjusting wrenches are remo-
ved from the tool before switching it on to avoid them
to fly away at high velocity.
• Wear non-slip gloves for maximum grip and protec-
tion.
• Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain
when it is operating. Before starting the chain saw,
make sure the it is not contacting anything.
• Keep body to the left of the chain line. Never straddle
the saw or chain, or lean over past the chain line.
• Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the
rear handle and your left hand on the front handle.
The finger should encircle the handle and the thumb
should be wrapped under the handlebar.
• Before beginning a major sawing operation, you must
first try cutting few small logs.
• When cutting a limb that is under tension be alert for
spring back.
• Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings,
the slender material may catch the saw chain and be
whipped forward toward you or pull you off balance.
• Carry the chain saw by the handle with the chain saw
switched off and away from your body.
• When transporting or storing the chain saw always fit
the guide bar cover.
• Cut wood only. Do not use chain saw for purposes
not intended like cutting plastic, masonry or non-wood
building materials.
Kickback warning
Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar
touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pin-
ches the saw chain in the cut. Contact at the upper portion
of the tip of the guide bar can cause the chain to dig into
the object and stop the chain for an instant. Tip contact in
some cases may cause a sudden reverse reaction, kicking
the guide bar up and back towards the operator. Pinching
the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the
guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these
reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw which
could result in serious personal injury.
To prevent it:
1. Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers encir-
cling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the
saw and position your body and arm to resist kickback
forces.
2. Make sure that the area in which you are cutting is
free from obstructions and do not let the nose of the
guide bar contact a log, branch, fence, or any other
obstruction.
3. Always cut with the unit running. Fully squeeze the
switch trigger and maintain cutting speed.
4. Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder hei-
ght.
5. Never attempt to remove the saw from the workpiece
while the blade is in motion. If a blade is binding, re-
lease the trigger and hold the saw motionless in the
material until it completely stops.
6. After a kickback, when restarting a saw in the workpie-
ce, center the saw blade in the kerf and check that saw
teeth are not engaged into the wood.
Push and pull warning
This reaction force is always opposite to the direction the
chain is moving where wood contact is made. Thus, the
operator must be ready to control the PULL when cutting on
the bottom edge of the bar, and PUSH when cutting along
the top edge.
