Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Anschluss an einen USB-Port eines Computers vorgesehen und
dient dort zur drahtlosen Verbindung (IR/Infrarot) zu dazu geeigneten Geräten (z.B.
Mobiltelefon/Handy).

Anschluss
Verbinden Sie den USB-IR-Adapter mit einem freien USB-Port Ihres Computers. Der
Computer braucht dabei nicht ausgeschaltet werden.
Treiber-Installation
Windows erkennt den USB-IR-Adapter nach dem Anstecken automatisch.
Legen Sie die mitgelieferte Treiber-CD in das entsprechende Laufwerk Ihres PCs
ein.
Wählen Sie "Position des Treibers angeben (Erweitert)".
Anschließend wählen Sie je nach Betriebssystem (Windows 98, ME usw.) im
Verzeichnis "SigmaTel \ USB to IrDA" das korrekte Treiberverzeichnis aus (z.B. das
Verzeichnis "DrvME" für Windows ME usw.).
Für Windows XP werden normalerweise keine Treiber benötigt, da diese Bestandteil
des Betriebssystems sind.
Danach ist möglicherweise ein Neustart nötig, bevor der IR-Adapter einwandfrei
funktioniert.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Die IR-LED des USB-IR-Adapters sollte direkt auf das Gegenstück in dem von
Ihnen verwendeten Gerät (z.B. Handy) gerichtet sein. Andernfalls kann es dazu
kommen, dass keine Verbindung aufgebaut werden muss.
• Beachten Sie die Anleitung zu dem von Ihnen verwendeten Gerät (z.B. Handy), wie
eine IR-Verbindung aufgebaut werden kann. Bei vielen Handys ist dazu in den
Einstellungen die IR-Schnittstelle zuerst zu aktivieren.
Ausserdem wird die IR-Verbindung oft wieder beendet, sofern keine Daten über-
tragen werden (dient der Energie-Einsparung).
• Zur IR-Datenübertragung z.B. zu Handys ist eine geeignete Software erforderlich
(nicht im Lieferumfang). Achtung, nicht jede beliebige Software arbeitet mit jedem
Handy zusammen!
• Im abgesicherten Modus von Windows oder unter DOS ist der Betrieb des USB-IR-
Adapters nicht möglich. Verwenden Sie in diesem Fall einen IR-Adapter mit
RS232-Schnittstelle.

Proper use
This product is intended for connection to an USB port on a computer and provides
wireless connection (IR/infrared) to suitable devices (e.g. mobile phones).

Connection
Connect the USB-IR adapter with a free USB port on your computer. The computer
does not need to be turned on.
Driver Installation
Windows automatically recognises the USB-IR adapter after it is plugged in.
Insert the included driver CD into the corresponding drive on your PC.
Select "Choose the driver location (extended)".
Finally select the appropriate operating system (Windows 98, ME, etc.) in the direc-
tory "SigmaTel \ USB to IrDA" and the correct driver directory (for example "DrvME"
for Windows ME, etc.).
For Windows XP, normally no driver is necessary because it is already included in
the operating system.
Afterwards it may be necessary to restart the computer before the IR adapter func-
tions without problems.
Tips & notes
• The IR LED of the USB-IR adapter should be aimed directly at its counterpart on
the device you are using (i.e. mobile phone). Otherwise it can occur that no con-
nection is made.
• Observe the instructions for the device you are using (i.e. mobile phone) for how
an IR connection is made. With many mobile phones, the IR interface must be acti-
vated in the settings.
Also the IR connection is often terminated when no data is being transferred (for
energy-saving).
• The appropriate software (not included) is required for data transfer to e.g. mobi-
le phones. NOTE: Not every software works together with every mobile phone!
• In the Safety Mode of Windows or under DOS, operation of the USB-IR adapter is
not possible. In this case, use an IR adapter with an RS232 interface.
